Iam In My Art

" ...Only in art does it still happen that a man who is consumed by desires performs something resembling the accomplishment of those desires and that what he does in play produces emotional effects - thanks to artistic illusion - just as though it were something real. People speak with justice of the "magic of art" and compare artists to magicians

"Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation."
The common name for the Xanthorrhoea is Grass Tree or
Balga. Grass Trees/Balgas epitomise the Australian bush;
they’re beautiful, ancient, hardy, thrive in nutrient poor soils
and respond to wildfire by flowering profusely. The Grass Tree/Balga are important to Aboriginal people
across Australia. Grass Tree/Balga resin is traditionally used as glue in spear-making and in patching up water
containers. Whilst the flower spikes make fishing spear
shafts and firesticks; the tough seed pods are used as
cutting implements; and the flower’s nectar forms a sweet,
slightly fermented drink. This nectar also attracts a wide
variety of insects, birds and mammals. Once pollinated, the
flowers form a tough, pointed fruit capsule that’s typically
matt-black. (fact sheet - City of Joondalup, Western Australia)
The North Esk River forms part of the traditional lands of the Tasmanian Aborigines. The upper reaches of the river, and its watershed, is country belonging to the Ben Lomond Nation and the lower reaches, near Launceston is the country of the Leterremairrener clan of the North Midlands Nation.[4] The Tasmanian Aboriginal names for the North Esk River are lakekeller (with the suffix kila meaning deep) and mangana, which simply means river.[1][2] An unnamed Colonial explorer in 1831 described the land up the North Esk River as open country but surrounded by densely wooded hills.[5] The open country had been used by colonials early in Launceston's history as a source of kangaroo meat for the nascent colony and was known as 'Bullock's Hunting Ground'. It is likely that this country had been kept open by Aboriginal firestick farming techniques prior to settlement and was the traditional hunting ground of either the Letterremairrener or a clan of the Ben Lomond Nation.Wikipedia

Back to my emerging Monarch Butterflies. I just want to set the stage for this one. A few years ago I changed out my suberban lawn for a drought-tolerant landscaping that included the bark ground cover and then spaced out mostly flowering plants on the modified sprinkler system. (Knocked off about 40% of my water bill.) It's a mecca for pollinators - bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, et al. Now the milkweed that is hosting the Monarch life cycle is just along the side of the garage. This particular colorful succulent is yards away from the milkweed. So the caterpillar had to make its way over the sidewalk entry to the bark ground cover, bypassing several other plants and a field of wild poppies, to hang in this fire stick. When I spotted the pupa, I couldn't imagine how it got there! I was very excited to imagine the emerging Monarch in this unusual plant. Finally, it looked like the day had arrived, so I set the camera up on interval timing and busied myself just a few feet away, tidying up, pulling "weeds". But she snuck out when I wasn't looking - suddenly, there she was up and out! I hurried to the camera and she had already climbed out of the picture. Not only that, she popped out on the far side of the pupa so she was mostly obstructed. Anyway, this is the last frame the camera took before she moved out the top of the frame, in just a minute or so start to finish. I was overjoyed again to witness the miracle even if second-hand.

An ' out of town ' street entertainer whose juggling would have been best served by a video slot, alas, which I have not ! There was a " Taste of Spain " promotion For A Taste ! in Williamson Square and I got the impression the guy was expecting a fair amount of donations ! I observed him at a completely different location about an hour later so perhaps not !

Beau wants me to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving...he also said he is thankful that we still love him in spite of missing slippers, toilet paper spread everywhere, chewed up glasses, pens, a calendar, tassels off of Bill’s loafers, a zipper off of my coat, remotes, Firestick, and quite a few accidents (mostly in the past...) He will be one year old tomorrow, and WE are thankful for him!

A mysterious night photo of the fascinating fireplace and television of 1920s abandoned transcontinental airport languishing in obscurity somewhere in the Mojave Desert. I illuminated the night scene with warm white and red light from a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light during the long exposure. Light painting to illuminate subjects is a beautiful, addictive art, as you can walk around the scene, deciding what to bring to light and what to keep in shadow. And it's more fun than typing key prompts for AI-generated art.

I have driven past the house where these Euphorbia are growing on the outside of the front fence. Today I stopped and took a photo of them. It is in fact a wonderful shrub that grows like a hedge. Most unusual.
