And that's (finally) the conclusion of the Fallas of September 2021. They tried hard to either blow up or burn down the city, but thanks to Valencia's excellent fire brigade all ended well. Except for the wonderful artwork. Well, next year they will have now one! I'm looking forward to it!
My brother and his best friend (both volunteer firefighters) taking a break to relax around what they do best.
These men are not having fun. I had seen them a few kilometers further parking their red truck and leave it for a run. They are firefighters. They went down to the beach. I thought they were going to bathe. But they took this position a little surprising for about a minute and then when one of them gave the order they ran away about fifty meters. They did this three times in a row. I guess it must be good to strengthen legs muscles ...
Small build for a contest - the rule was to create something with a firemen's big ladder and I choosed to build something Flintstones-like :)

My son had to do a project about gravestones for his science class, looking at the type of stone used, and the weathering over time. He needed a couple from pre-1850, so Mt. Elliott cemetery in Detroit seemed to be the natural destination. We got there Friday morning, and the cemetery was covered with snow from the previous night. It was pretty cool. This area is the firemen's cemetery. It left an impact on me.

This specific sculpture on the memorial depicts a seated woman holding a child, symbolizing grief and protection, and is one of the two sculptural groups flanking the main inscription.
The memorial was dedicated in 1913 and was created by sculptor Attilio Piccirilli, with the architecture by Harold Van Buren Magonigle. It honors New York City firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
Just a few cookies to add to a cookie tray several mom's are putting together to thank our local fire department for helping us with our school's annual Rocket Run. The fireman help us start our races with their sirens and the kids love seeing the firetrucks.......while mom's enjoy the firemen!! Thanks Fire Station #2 - we appreciate you!
