A stream normally runs through here. It's been too dry though :(

A truck sheared off this hydrant on 6th between Hill and Broadway late Tuesday morning. The resulting geyser lasted an hour before being shut off.

What happened to red hydrants?

I really love the VIBRANT red our fire hydrants are now. They've just recently got a brand new coat of paint! And it's surprising how much water it can put out. A guy came around to flush the hydrants a few days ago, and water shot out of the hydrant at least 20 feet. It was quite a sight to behold.

Right around the corner from my house in East Palo Alto. Its on the deadend of a steet at the edge of the baylands (San Francisco Bay), which you can see in the background.
