The McAvity factory in Saint John manufactured

fire hydrants and shipped them all over the place.

Each hydrant was stamped with a date. This one

shows "1974", just about the latest date I've seen

on a McAvity hydrant (the earliest, as I recall,

was about 1922).

this photo was taken a couple years ago. At the time my main camera was in for repair so I kept coming back to this firehydrant to shoot it with another camera. I for some reason never posted this version, whatever version this is.

This fire hydrant is on the wall of a local shopping Mall. I must have driven past it a hundred times before it caught my eye & I thought that it could be a decent image! Just goes to show how little attention we pay to the things around us....!Fire Hydrant, Boadwalk, Richards Bay
