Barn on the outskirts of Tomahawk during blue hour with hundreds of fireflies blinking to attract a mate.
A series of 59 exposures composited into one picture. Each exposure was f/2.8, 20 seconds, and ISO400.
This side is Denyse Schmidt - Aunt Edna Multi Leaf on Mini Dot - navy. I used red buttons and grosgrain ribbon.
Bugs That Come to My Porch Light #3: some kind of firefly.
Here it is getting ready to take off and fly right into my face.
At this time of year, fireflies light up all over my front yard at dusk, resulting in a nice thing about living in Texas: sitting on the porch with a glass of wine around sunset, and watching the fireflies cruising for tricks.
Lucidota atra is a day-flying firefly that glows as a larva -- and as a pupa, obviously! -- but not as an adult. (Don't ask my why! What is is glowing for, if not in order to find a mate?) Found it in decaying leaves while gardening. Looks pretty far along, & in fact I observed adults in the area the following day.

Dragon Con 2015 in Atlanta GA. The titles are very generic. I lumped them into their basic show/movie/origin while editing with the intent to update them later.
