On the North East corner of New Bartholomew Street the former Chamberlain and Hookham factory by Arthur McKewan: a functional block of 1913 with big steel windows, and sparing but effective Arts and Crafts detail: diapering, tile lintels, recessed tympana, East extension of 1927.

Offices doors - now Fire Exit.

A much-maligned hangout and quick exit for badass kids. In the summer, the door was kept ajar at times due to the heat. My most vivid memories of the 2nd floor gym:

1. A friend of mine puking into the air while finishing a lap during warm-up.

2. Letting anger get the best of myself and my sparring partner during the wrestling unit. For some reason we were pissed off at each other enough to deliver some non-freestyle/Greco-Roman shots to each other's groin area.

3. The Golf Unit. My golf partner was a total tease, and she knew that I liked to watch her wiggle before a putt. Naughty, eh? There was a gym-wide net that enabled us to drive balls with no damage.

Today I will mostly be posting shots of a textural nature

Chelsea apartment windows seen from High Line Park in Manhattan

The High Line is a 1-mile New York City linear park built on a section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line, which runs along the lower west side of Manhattan; it has been redesigned and planted as an aerial greenway. The park currently runs from Gansevoort Street, three blocks below West 14th Street, in the Meatpacking District, up to 30th Street, through the neighborhood of Chelsea to the West Side Yard, near the Javits Convention Center.

Fire Exit.

This was one of the fire exits at an active multi-storey car park in East London. There was always rubbish in the doorway (Polish beer cans for some reason) but what possessed a moron to block a fire exit with a metal barrier is beyond imagination.

The car park has since been demolished and new office blocks built.

Digitised image from the Town Hall Photographer's Collection - GB127.M850.

The Town Hall Photographer’s Collection is a large photographic collection held in Manchester City Council’s Central Library archives, ranging in date from 1956 to 2007.

The collection consists of tens of thousands of images, covering the varied areas of work of Manchester Corporation and latterly, Manchester City Council.

The photographs were taken by staff photographers, who were tasked to document the work of Corporation/Council departments and, in doing so, captured many aspects of Manchester life and history, including significant changes to the Manchester landscape.

The collection includes many different formats from glass negatives, to slides, prints, CDs and even a couple of cine films.

What is especially exciting is that the majority of these images have never before been available in a digital format and therefore have only ever been seen by a handful of people.

A team of dedicated Staff and Volunteers are currently working on the systematic digitisation of the negatives held within the collection.

This album represents the result of their work to date.

Sequence 3-6-9 @ rocknrolla’s

Sequence 3-6-9 put on a great show in support of Fire Exit at Paisley’s Rocknrolla’s on Saturday night with their unique sound that catered to all manners of tastes. No sooner did they hit the stage when the singer shouted everyone down to the front, to join in and have a good time before getting on with their set. The singer who sounded more like a rapper while the band played like a punk ska band, as the lead guitarist created some cool sounds effects that only added to S369 sound.

So this was another great night at Rocknrolla’s and hopefully we’ll see S369 back under its roof where this five piece band, including Kerris Alexandra, their female guitarist / singer get to headline the show while giving some local band the opertunity to support them and the chance to play this cool venue we all hope will be around for many years to come..

By the way folks, if you like the photos pop over to my google review page and leave a star or two which is much appreciated.

I would be totally annoyed if it was to close soon as there are only 2 other locations (Gepps Cross & Noarlunga Centre)

Or not, it would appear.

A photo exhibition at Curzon Street Station in Eastside, Birmingham.

Just about managed to see it before it closed! It opened while I was on holiday in Spain!

Most of the photos here were in the Birmingham Post (pullouts and website).

Was nice to finally see the inside of the building! It maybe integrated into the future HS2 station!

Venice is a city in northeast Italy which is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks. It is the capital of the Veneto region. The name is derived from the ancient Veneti people who inhabited the region by the 10th century B.C. The city historically was the capital of the Venetian Republic. Venice has been known as the "La Dominante", "Serenissima", "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". The city stretches across 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave(north) Rivers.

26th & 3rd at dusk on a late May evening. This is one of the views that fascinated me the most in New York....

Taken on the afternoon of 8th Sept 08. These stairs look beautiful every summer and a lot of care and attention goes into watering, dead heading and generally maintaining the pots so they look colourful for as long as possible. I've been meaning to take a photo of them for some time and thought 8th Sept was as good a day as any!
