I had not intended to go here today (my walk yesterday was through this area) but spotted the fire from the bus and hopped off at the next stop. Turns out it was a controlled practice fire. This used to be a motorcycle club, their lease must have run out. Lots of smoke and crackle. Lots of fire engines with nice numbers on them. Firemen having a picnic.
For many years ASDA used the likes of Motormax, Realtoy and Maisto for their budget in house branded diecasts but unfortunately, since 2017 they've been using HTI and their rather awful overtly generic range of castings. There is probably barely a single diecast selling store in the entire UK who don't stock them and cruelly pushing out much more appealing budget brands making proper licensed castings. Their meteoric rise is unexplainable as nobody I know even likes them or would consider buying them for their children!
DynaForce is the new house brand for ASDA since splitting from Walmart yet its business as usual for them using HTI generics and after ignoring their newly repackaged five vehicle sets for so long I gave in and bought a couple.
A very young child with no concept of what a real Fire Engine looks like may well be swayed by this casting and its bright cheery colours and in all fairness it is well constructed with lots of painted detailing.
