American Flamingos. Found in tropical and sub-tropical areas throughout the world, flamingos can reach a height of 5 feet and may live over 40 years in captivity.
Characterized by it's long thin legs, flexible neck, and bright pink coloration, flamingos are also known as "firebirds" as they can sometimes be found in rather inhospitable volcanic mud flats. The word flamingo is taken from the Latin word for flame, no doubt for the brilliant pink coloration some flamingos have. Not all flamingos are pink however, and juveniles are born a light grey color. Flamingos receive their brilliant coloration from their diet which includes brine shrimp, algae, insects, and other small invertebrates.
Captured this one in Gatorland's Flamingo Lagoon.

Taken near one of our favorite doughnut places in the area. They’re a local chain in Arizona and I dare say that their doughnuts taste better and are fresher than the nationwide chain also in the area which seems to be more dependent on sales of drinks.
The arrowhead emblem on the center of the bumper signified a V8 engine. The base engine on these was a 4.1 L (250 cu. in.) inline 6 with SOHC valve train, quite unusual at that time for American cars. I seem to recall that the 6 engine was also available in a higher output version of which the model name was the Firebird ‘Sprint.’ That engine produced 230 hp which was at the same level as some contemporary 5 L V8s.
Here's an 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula. This is the 2nd generation model, one of the most popular of the Firebird's, and one of my favorite classic US cars!
The Firebirds is a display team that performs at airshows. The team consists of Nigel Reid and John Dodd, who fly a pair of Van's Aircraft, G-SPRK and G-SPRX, RV-4s with fireworks and multicoloured LEDs. The team is not related to the RAF squadron of the same name, which fought in the Battle of Britain and had their own aerobatic display team in the 1960s.

The 1959 Cadillac picks up some of Firebird’s surfaces and severe tuck-under rocker panels, and the 1961 Caddy has rear “skegs” from the Firebird III.

The first generation of the Pontiac Firebird was built from 1967 until 1969. Like later generations it was closely related to the Chevrolet Camaro.
