my thoughts often wander when i am out making photographs, particularly early in the day, a time which is out of my normal rhythm, and this particular morning, as the sky began to evolve, to do the unexpected things i've now come to expect, my mind immediately flew to stravinsky, to the firebird.
not quite matched in mood, this scene being much more serene, the connection, still, is a good one, i think. the clip is a long one, but not the full suite, and the bonus is that this is a HD clip from the sydney opera house, and the show there was quite amazing.

For Joanna. Sunrise, Algarve, Portugal.
My younger sister unexpectedly passed away in her sleep over the holiday period. She was only 42. Joanna was a free spirit, living a life by her own rules. I was taking this shot at about the time she was found half a world away. It is fitting that this sunrise appeared as a firebird racing across the horizon.

The Phoenix from Rezz Room is amazing, one of the most beautiful creations I've ever seen in world. A stunning accomplishment! And NeverendingSL is a must see for SL photographers!
I 5 southbound firebird racing
toward the night
sharp contrast
last minute change in plans
tires hum as the blanket
woven of last nights dream
is placed softly over the still hips
of the pacific coast range
like a final caress

More illuminated shots from the Joondalup Festival Light display at Hillarys boat Harbour. The sunset colours are still evident in the background and provide a fabulous backdrop. This particular bird had a team of about 6 people working beneath it to make it move. It looked pretty fluid and fun to watch.
