Our volume of sales and positive feedback speaks for itself!

We have grates that have been in operation since 2000 and no customer has reported burn through.

All our products are made with fully welded uncoated non-galvanized structural grade industrial carbon steel, and UL certified electrical components.

We use 100% renewable wind and hydro electricity in our shop, and when possible, we use re-purposed and recycled steel.

Here is how it works:

Our all steel design uses several perfectly sized heavy duty thick wall tubes for maximum heat exchanger surface area, superior airflow volume, minimum burn through, and maximum combustion area volume. The tubes are welded together forming a channel that is filled with cool home air. The tubes then heat the air as it passes through them. Hot air is then blown back into the your home with velocity. This adds conduction from the hot coal coals and convection from the flame, heating to the radiant heat of a fireplace, recovering otherwise lost energy or BTU from the embers and flame of your fire.

The AC fans plug into a standard 110 VAC wall outlet (DC optional for solar panel, wind, solar cell, photo voltaic cell off grid or grid tie applications), they are quiet running at a measured 50 db or less decibels, and rated at 100 CFM each. With the option of a variable speed fan control when mood is more important than heat output you can reduce the background hum of our heat exchangers in operation for the perfect ambiance.

Customers have observed how the warmth generated by these Heat Exchangers can circulate to the adjoining rooms in your home. A customer sent us many thanks when our grate prevented the freezing of his pipes in -20 weather when his natural gas furnace broke and the part was over a week away. This serves to increase the comfort of your entire home, conserve the amount of wood you burn, and nearly eliminate the need for other expensive methods of climate control such as electric heaters, heat pumps, corn or pellet stoves, and central air oil or gas furnaces.

St Fagans Castle.

St Fagans Castle is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the finest Elizabethan manor houses in Wales, though much of the interior was remodelled during the 19th century. In 1946 the Castle, together with eighteen acres of land, was donated by the Earl of Plymouth to the National Museum of Wales as a site for a national open-air museum.

The present house was begun by a local lawyer, Dr John Gibbon, in 1580, though he may never have actually lived here. The house and estate were purchased in 1616 by Edward Lewis of Y Fan, Caerphilly, and it was Edward and his wife Blanche who completed many of the internal fittings of the building in 1620. Their initials EBL and the date 1620 can be seen on panelling and on firebacks within the building. The Lewis heiress Elizabeth married Other, 3rd Earl of Plymouth in 1730, and the estate was inherited by their infant son in 1736.

The house was rented out to various tenants during the 18th century, and was later used for temporary accommodation by local people, including the local schoolmaster, who kept school in the withdrawing room.

In 1850 a huge refurbishing scheme was begun to provide a home for the heir to the Plymouth estate, Robert Windsor-Clive, and his new bride. They married in 1852 but lived in St Fagans for a short time only, until his early death. It was not until later in the century that St Fagans was to see a family living within its walls. From the mid-1880s Lord Robert Windsor, later to be Earl of Plymouth, spent part of every summer at St Fagans with his wife, three sons and daughter, and their many guests. The rooms are furnished to reflect the lives of the family in residence at the beginning of the 20th century.

Building facts:

◾Original Location: St Fagans, Glamorgan

◾Date originally built: 1590

◾Furnished: Early 20th century

◾Opened to the public: 1946

◾Listing status: Grade 1

The Couper Park is the site where the Helmsdale Castle once stood. Although, alas it became a rapidly crumbling ruin and was completely demolished in the early 1970s to make way for the new A9 road bridge over the Helmsdale River.

In the early 19th Century almost all of the inland settlements in the area were cleared of their inhabitants in order to make way for more profitable residents: sheep. Clearances took place right across the Highlands and Islands, but those perpetrated by the first Duke of Sutherland in this area were amongst the most notorious.

The castle had its beginnings in the 1460s. It was repaired and enlarged around 1600, but it was in 1567 that the famous tragedy was enacted that is said to have inspired the plot of Shakespeare's "Hamlet".

Isobel Sinclair, in a diabolical attempt to divert the line of succession to her own son, arranged to poison her visitors, the 11th Earl of Sutherland and his Countess and their son, while they were taking dinner at the castle. But the plan miscarried and the Earl's son did not drink the poisoned wine, while her own son did, as well as the Earl and Countess.

The original castle was square in shape and had been the hunting seat of the Sutherland family. A find in the Kildonan Strath was a cast iron fireback dated 1633. The grandson of the 11th Earl records that his brother, Sir Alexander Gordon of Navidale, was responsible for the repair of the castle, and his two sons were born there in 1614 and 1616; but in 1621, when the clan troubles were at their height, he built a castle at Torrish, in the Strath, and presumably took the fireback up to it. These ornamental slabs of cast iron were introduced when fireplaces were built into the wall, instead of the usual simple structure in the middle of the room.

The spectacular Great Bedchamber wasn’t for sleeping in but for the King to be dressed in public. In the Great Bedchamber the king might receive senior courtiers and ministers while dressing, a French royal custom, known as the levée. The King was attended by Gentlemen of the Bedchamber in this room, which is appropriately one of the most sumptuous in the Palace.

The Great Bedchamber was William III’s inner sanctum; access was strictly controlled by the Groom of the Stool. Those privileged to attend while the king was dressed were kept at a suitable distance behind a gilded rail.

Barometer

A free standing, portable barometer made c.1695-1705 contained in an ivory tapering tube with a screw-type portable cistern on a stand supported by four gilt bronze male terms. The dial at the top in three stages with inscriptions in English and French and in engraved gilt brass frames. Traces of the Royal Monogram “ЯWR” on each side.

Candlestand

Each with circular top with gadrooned edge, on a central tripartite shaft carved with scrolls, foliate and husks, the whole of the central shaft on three scrolled legs. The Pelletier family of carvers and gilders were of French origin and by 1682, Jean Pelletier had arrived in London. His workshop also comprised his two sons, Thomas and Rene. It was in all likelihood due to the patronage of the francophile Master of the Great Wardrobe, Ralph, Duke of Montagu, that the Pelletier family came to enjoy royal patronage. The candlestands, or torcheres, form part of the commission to furnish the King’s Apartments at Hampton Court Palace that Montagu obtained for Jean Pelletier. Between 1699 and 1702, furniture costing nearly £600 was delivered. A warrant dated October 25, 1701 included a quantity of tables and stands for “ye Drawing Room, Privy Chamber, Eating Room, Gallery, &c., at Hampton Court”, comprising “six pair of large stands at £30 p. pair”, ten of which survive [RCIN 1002.1-8 & RCIN 1015.1-2]. Within this set, one pair is of very slightly lesser quality in their carved detail [RCIN 1015]. A further four candlestands of more elaborate design were also supplied [RCIN 57029].

Crested Fireback

(lophura diardi) The Siamese Fireback is distributed to the lowland and evergreen forests of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam in Southeast Asia. This species is also designated as the national bird of Thailand.

The tubes have a trapezoidal shape that better matches the shape of your fireplace, allowing more heat exchanger to snugly fit.

It works in masonry and zero-clearance

fireplaces, as well as with gas logs or gas starters. You can use a cardboard

box of this size to test the fit into your fireplace.

The most elegant, well crafted,

customizable, and functional Heat Exchangers at the most reasonable

cost. Turn your fireplace into a furnace with the ultimate blend of

eye pleasing form with function. These high quality fireplace Grate

Heat Exchangers are built to last.

When you use our Grate Heat Exchanger

in an open fireplace, you will realize a saving on your heating costs

and the amount of firewood. With one of these you can extract a

larger percentage of the heat wasted and going up your chimney. Our

Heat Exchangers are designed with the greatest surface area to

capture and move into your home the highest percentage of the BTU

heat generated by your fire.

Our volume of sales and positive

feedback speaks for itself!

We have grates that have been in

operation since 2000 and no customer has reported burn through.

All our products are made with fully

welded uncoated non-galvanized structural grade industrial carbon

steel, and UL certified electrical components.

We use 100% renewable wind and hydro

electricity in our shop, and when possible, we use re-purposed and

recycled steel.

Here is how it works:

Our all steel design uses several

perfectly sized heavy duty thick wall tubes for maximum heat

exchanger surface area, superior airflow volume, minimum burn

through, and maximum combustion area volume. The tubes are welded

together forming a channel that is filled with cool home air. The

tubes then heat the air as it passes through them. Hot air is then

blown back into the your home with velocity. This adds conduction

from the hot coal coals and convection from the flame, heating to the

radiant heat of a fireplace, recovering otherwise lost energy or BTU

from the embers and flame of your fire.

The AC fans plug into a standard 110

VAC wall outlet (DC optional for solar panel, wind, solar cell, photo

voltaic cell off grid or grid tie applications), they are quiet

running at a measured 50 db or less decibels, and rated at 100 CFM

each. With the option of a variable speed fan control when mood is

more important than heat output you can reduce the background hum of

our heat exchangers in operation for the perfect ambiance.

Customers have observed how the warmth

generated by these Heat Exchangers can circulate to the adjoining

rooms in your home. A customer sent us many thanks when our grate

prevented the freezing of his pipes in -20 weather when his natural

gas furnace broke and the part was over a week away. This serves to

increase the comfort of your entire home, conserve the amount of wood

you burn, and nearly eliminate the need for other expensive methods

of climate control such as electric heaters, heat pumps, corn or

pellet stoves, and central air oil or gas furnaces.

◾Furnished: Early 20th century

fireplaces, as well as with gas logs or gas starters.

Production time? We normally keep these

standard sizes in stock and ready for immediate shipping.

First in line is first in time, the

sooner you order your Fireplace Grate Heater, the sooner you can

start saving on the heating bill!

Lophura diardi is found in Thailand (uncommon to locally common resident, principally in the north-east and south-east, c.5,000 individuals estimated), Laos (widespread and locally abundant, but heavily snared), Cambodia (locally common and widespread) and Vietnam (locally common and widespread in central and southern regions). Its total population size has not been recently estimated, although the population in Cambodia may be conservatively estimated at c.2,000 individuals6. The species is suspected to be undergoing a slow to moderate decline owing to continued habitat loss and hunting pressure.

The Office - My son Jim is heading in to check out the information on the table. This room was used as the farm office where they handled the day to day business that went with the running of this large farm. The room had two outside entrances for the farm manager and other business guests, thus obviating the necessity of going through the house. The woodwork in the office is grained to resemble oak, which was a fashionable practice of the period when this house was built. In this room there are painted shades which were typical of the 1800s. To left of the fireplace is Robert Swan's Empire desk, a mahogany front-fall design with many cubbyholes and scroll legs. He used this desk for 40 years to preside over his great agricultural accomplishments of the Rose Hill farm. Behind the office was a woodshed from which wood could be carried across the verandah to the kitchen, The fireplace mantel, painted black, has Tuscan columns with a cast iron fireback inside the fireplace. The table in the center of the room is a mahogany Empire law office conference table with inserted green felt top. Jim thought it looked a little like a pool table.Off to the far left you can see a bit of a mahogany Empire style settee. Located on Route 96A in Geneva, NY.

Saw this male soaking in some sun, it had been raining heavily during the night.

Its natural diet consists of fruits and small animals, possibly pests and small vermin, so traditionally farmers appreciate their presence. Rice grain from the paddy field would probably tempt their hunger sometimes, turning them into villain hence the Malay proverb "Harapkan pegar, pegar makan padi" (Trust not the pegar, perchance they consume your rice").

It wasn’t too long ago that we posted a photo of the rather dazzling Siamese Fireback. Another equally attractive fowl is the splendid Crested Fireback; just one more good reason for you to consider a visit to Malaysia and Borneo. Sadly, these firebacks, with their distinctive blue mantles and funky black crests, are listed as Near Threatened due to habitat loss, largely as a result of the logging industry. This striking individual was photographed by Rainer Summers in Malaysia. If you haven’t already checked out the details of our next departure, visit goo.gl/dTv7hJ
