♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥

The peak of Grotto Mountain is lit on fire and captured in the icy reflection of Grotto Pond.

A gap in the clouds reveals the last of the evening sun igniting this mountain near Chamonix, France.

Rushed to get the shot using Canon 5dMk3 70-200 + 2x extender and tripod. Unfortunately I forgot to check the IS was turned off. That along with this being quite a heavy crop means IQ is not all it could be. Nevertneless glad I managed to get a few shots off before the moment passed.

Just back from a great holiday with the family touring quickly through France then on to Verona and Venice, followed by my first visit to the Dolomites and home via Germany. Should have one or two other pics to post!

Hope all of you are having an enjoyable summer.

"There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted."

quote by Henri Matisse

I think it goes for photographers too?

Yet some discard this and will just copy?

From my garden, a rose called appropriately: Fire & Ice.

These duo-toned roses are plump and opulent but are non-fragrant.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

Ice chills my heart

My soul

My life

Crushing together in bits and pieces

And never making sense

While yours is heat

Yours is fire

You are passion

You are everything

The furnace that burns

Fuel for fervor that keeps

The gears of my mind turning

The movement of my feet relentless

You are waking as I am sleeping

I am ice and you are fire

You are my fire.

300 to go.

As global warming's flame

melts my backyard ice cap

I must take personal blame

for the end of this micro cold snap

fire and ice on a grander stage

ought incite cold fury and hot rage

and frame responsibility to all the same

FlickrFriday "35" Challenge ... 32 matches + 3 stars ... Bird tracks in unexpected Seattle snow are icing.

Well, it's been mighty chilly this December!!!

Lately, It's been way too busy with work to go out with the camera, but I thought I'd post something from earlier this year that reminded me of those frigid mornings at the lake.

At -32 degrees, this kind of weather puts the "Brrr" in December!

For this slide, I took an ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photo of some trees and played around with color, then added just a hint of texture.

Hot and Cold / Fire and Ice - Opposites

A few edits from our trip to Iceland in 2019. At the time I didn't feel like these photos were good enough... I now just want to share this beautiful country with people, regardless if the photos are "good" or not.

I also tried it in black & white, but figured this looked better.

I cut this bud, a duo-toned Cherry Parfait rose also called 'Fire and Ice', in our garden.

It was, like all flowers: imperfect…

Still, it is slowly unfolding and yielding us its beauty and fragrance...

Thank you for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*)

Dicono alcuni che finirà nel fuoco

il mondo; altri nel ghiaccio.

Del desiderio ho gustato quel poco

Che mi fa scegliere il fuoco,

Ma se dovesse due volte finire,

So pure che cosa è odiare,

E per la distruzione posso dire

Che anche il ghiaccio è terribile

E può bastare.

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

Summer is a halfway already... how time flies, technology evolving at an unbelievable pace, it was never easier to communicate, all is faster, not fast enough, call me, text me, skype me, email me... and yet more and more lonely people, alienation, families dispersed...

TIME TO SMELL THE ROSES...

A white bloom and a 'Fire&Ice' bud.

Both from our garden.

Wishing you well, and thank you, M, (*_*)

After the parade went by and we all followed it down to the stadium, I focused my attention and my camera on the interesting detritus on the street. Here, someone had dumped a cooler full of ice over a fallen leaf.

I wish the highlights weren't overexposed, and that I knew what kind of leaf it was, but you can't have everything. Where would you put it?
