Fire and Ice, Cherry Parfait... the names of a Rose.

There is this plant in my garden, a Rose, and it was the beautiful month of May... first the leaves and what a joy to see more and more buds appearing.

Then, one day of very strong winds, a branch hung down, bud and all, not completely severed, still some connection with the mother-plant.

Enough to slowly keep it going.

I watched it day after day, holding my breath each time.

Other buds burst open in the sun, but not this bud.

Two weeks went by and the sepals were forever holding and protecting the Rose, until it was ready?

it took over three weeks in all before some colour showed, I was beginning to doubt it would ever make it.

What joy when it deployed its splendour.

It turned up, reaching for the light,

Full glory, yet I could tell that, although held close by the outer layer and hidden under leaves, it had been under attack, from weather and insects, it was imperfect, no matter!

Here is this fighting beauty for all to enjoy!

Take care, be safe!

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

I had to hurry, they were opening fast both outside in the garden and in the studio.

I keep saying that my flowers talk to me and that I gladly listen with my eyes?

This is what I mean, I look at them, turn them, study them, and find that they are like people.

When you are open to it, you will see the sunshine and the rain… the laughter and the tears, they convey a certain emotion, each flower differs.

That is why I love what I do, never tire of it as it fills me with joy and satisfaction.

It is still a daily discovery.

I want that emotion in my images.

A day without 'creation' is a day half lived, yes, I have been an addict for years, and it makes me over the moon happy.

I wish you all the best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and likes.

Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

Especially the beauty of flowers, from weeds to orchids.

From my garden, a rose called appropriately: Fire & Ice.

Blooms and bud.

These duo-toned roses are plump and opulent but are non-fragrant.

The weather was mad, raining, thunder and lightning, so in between showers, you can still see some drops on the petals, drying up quickly though under the studio-light... yep, I rushed out, yep another 'rescue' job, lol.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

I got some older photos I’m going to be posting from winter. One of my favorite nights in February. I decided it would be good time to go back through some old photos I never posted that I should have. This one back in end of February when Lake Michigan was covered in ice volcanoes. Can never get enough of these.

Heart-shaped ice cube on a mirror, set on fire with lighter fluid. Taken with a LensBaby Velvet 56 lens.

This is a sunset from last Sunday night. It was right after the big ice storm. All the trees were glistening with ice, but you can't tell in the picture! Definitely fire and ice!

Fire and Ice, aptly named. A great accent in the garden.

The geyser melts the snow and forms a warm streams. Iceland has so many thermal location which has earned her name as "The land of Fire and Ice"

I just couldn't help but take an image of this Lone Tree, set against a backdrop of snow clad hillsides together with this stunning winter Sunset, while walking around Derwent Water in the Lake District.

At the end of June, we had the opportunity to drive down the Icefields Parkway. Extending 232 km between Jasper and Lake Louise its rated to be one of the most scenic drives in the world and we were really looking forward to it - until we were storm stayed in Jasper an extra night due to a snowstorm. We did manage to go the next day but between heavy snow, clouds, and fog, we missed a lot of the scenery. What we did see was beautiful and we managed to miss the worst of the wildfires. Talking with a friend in Calgary afterwards, he said, welcome to the land of fire and ice!

Icebergs and sunset at Jokulsarlon beach.

Námaskarð geothermal area, Mývatn, N-Iceland

Lens: Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm.

ISO 100, f5.6, 1/50

Námaskarð has very active solfataras (sulphurous mud springs) and fumaroles (steam springs), none of which contain pure water. The mud craters are uncommonly large and are well worthy of the travelers attention, whereas many of the steam craters are drilling holes that have been covered with rocks. There is no vegetation in this high temperature area and the ground is sterile and very acidic due to the effects of the fumes from the mud springs.

The Myvatn region in the Central-Niorthern part of Iceland was formed by massive volcanic eruptions and activity and until this day there are geothermal fields, active fumaroles and sulphur mines and geothermal lakes. Arriving there after a relapse into winter made the landscape look even more surreal: partially covered in snow and yet steaming hot everywhere.

The rising and setting sun can create endless possibilities in the Yosemite valley with the ever changing angle of sunlight through the year.

We almost take every natural thing happening around us for granted although its a fairly complex system that's at work to sustain this balance which is only disturbed by us, humans.

Stepping into protected places like these national parks serves as a great window into mother nature's best! A walk in the park every now and then makes you realize and appreciate the true beauty in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. I consider myself gifted to be able to travel to some of the most pristine places that nature has to offer and forever thankful to national park workers and volunteers to keep these places accessible even during the worst weather conditions.

brought some Roses in from the garden, due to the long cold weather and rain and wind, they have grown a little wild.

Not on straight stems, but curved, so it looks like anarchy in studio Indigo.

Which makes for an interesting image I think, LOL

I GIVE YOU BEAUTY, EVERY DAY!

It has been an exceptional year for the Roses in my garden. We have been regaled!

So much beauty and joy for all the senses, well, Mmm, I did not eat them, although I know that rose petals can be candied, LOL

Have you ever caught a glimpse of those bicoloured roses that adorn the gardens with their brilliant contrasting hues? Well, those are the beautiful 'fire and ice' roses that set an awe with their spectacular combination of contrasting colours.

They are a perfect combination of the dark and the light, complete with a sparkling red interior and soothing white exterior.

Rose is the universal symbol of love, friendship, relationship and beyond.

When the rose possesses a dual colour combination like that of the Fire and Ice rose variety, the meaning intensifies. OULALA

This variety of rose belongs to the hybrid tea rose type.

Enjoy and make the BEST of every day! Thank you, M, (*_*)

A few edits from our trip to Iceland in 2019. At the time I didn't feel like these photos were good enough... I now just want to share this beautiful country with people, regardless if the photos are "good" or not.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone, I headed down to the Northern Tablelands of NSW last weekend to photograph the very beautiful Gostwyck Chapel in Uralla (photos to come). I have to say that it was freezing! -1, for someone from Brisbane that's pretty darn cold and I simply loved it. What I loved even more was the frost on all the weeds in the fields. It was gorgeous - captured this just as the sun was beginning to shine for the day so the light was was lovely.

ps if anyone knows what sort of plant this is I would love to know.

A gap in the clouds reveals the last of the evening sun igniting this mountain near Chamonix, France.

Rushed to get the shot using Canon 5dMk3 70-200 + 2x extender and tripod. Unfortunately I forgot to check the IS was turned off. That along with this being quite a heavy crop means IQ is not all it could be. Nevertneless glad I managed to get a few shots off before the moment passed.

Just back from a great holiday with the family touring quickly through France then on to Verona and Venice, followed by my first visit to the Dolomites and home via Germany. Should have one or two other pics to post!

Hope all of you are having an enjoyable summer.
