Oh boy. This is a tough piece of advice to follow. I know I have been "accepting" what our lives have become with the pandemic restrictions; like not seeing our family or travelling. But to actually find joy in what I am doing instead is not always easy to do even after months of practice! I noticed even with photography that many people have turned to new lenses or tried out new techniques to keep the joy of photography alive. I must admit that I am finding some renewed joy in my macro lens and the new flowers in my garden. Then we had two baby Chickadees trying out their wings for the first time in our garden today. I guess I would have missed this event if I was off travelling somewhere. Still, I hope we all get to live our new normal soon.
Traveling in such beauty really does something with you.
The road is so narrow that you don't want any cars coming towards you and if you do you or them have to back up until there is a little more space for the cars to pass
I loved driving there.
Aiko and me was "doing" Norway on our own.
The feeling of freedom and sense of achievement was very much present, especially on this road and grand landscape

I had to be in downtown Napa Saturday, and even though it was raining I decided to go find the public murals I had heard about in the “Railway Arts District”. My creation here includes a portion of the mural found on the back side of the Napa Valley Register building. I added my own textures and flower photos.
The mural is called “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” and was created by the artists Natalia Rak and Betz.

I am so excited, a local food photographer is hosting a 3-day workshop about creating a cookbook. A few years ago I put together a blog of my extended family's favorite recipes. I tried to make it special by adding videos and images but they were very amateurish. After doing some real soul searching, I discovered I want to make meaningful photos that tell stories and connect people. What better way to start than with my own family?
It's funny but I look back on my diary entries from when I was a kid and I always mentioned what I ate. I have disparaged and discounted the meaning and memories and now see that food has been important to me in ways I didn't honor or recognize. I love the way Andrew Scrivani speaks about food if you get a chance to watch he has a few you tube videos that are great.

We are seeing good numbers of these in the area at the moment. This one was part of a flock feeding in the grounds of Vic Uni.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads who are celebrating today in Oz and NZ.
It's been one year of social distancing and not hugging my adult children and grandchildren. Now that I'm days away from receiving my second vaccination, I find myself filled with anticipation of joy-filled moments with those I love. One way of saving my sanity was in painting with watercolors and ink. Here's to all of us moving toward happier days and calm nights. Best wishes to us all.
