My MOC for the final round of The Tourney:
The Category is Last Man Standing, wherein the final competitors are tasked with bringing the most epic one on one duel to the death. Imagine some fantastic music please.
My opponent is Jaapxaap.
As for the creation, I'm pretty happy with it. I tried to make the most epic thing possible, like maybe a burning mine (inspired by, you guessed it, a movie I haven't watched, namely Mask Of Zorro), but, I don't know... I'll probably lose. So my congratulations to Jaapxaap in advance. A couple notes are that in every Tourney entry I included a palm tree, (this one inspired by theBrickAvenger), which do you like best? Also that, per request in the category, I do have some FP here. If you look for it in the entrance to the mine you'll see a micro cart and a thinning of the railroad, as well as a small exit into the open air again. Meanwhile, I hope you all like my MOC! I have some pretty awesome realistic photos to upload on MOCpages in a short while.
Alas, this is the final photo of the batch that Ray Yourdon gave me from his mother's collection of photos in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s.
I've enjoyed sharing them with you; hope you have enjoyed looking at this small piece of history ...
Ray Yourdon's comment on this photo: "Uncle Frank (Mabel's youngest brother), Ike, Frank's wife, and mystery woman."
Aside from that, I have no idea when or where this photo was taken
*********************************
To the best of my knowledge, most of the photos in this Flickr album were taken by my grandmother, Mabel Yourdon, during the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. Most of them depict scenes of everyday life in mining camps and small towns near the Utah-Colorado border. Some of them show hunting, fishing, and camping trips in unspecified parts of the American west. It appears that a few of them were taken in southern California, when Mabel and her husband Ike traveled out there to visit relatives.
I have no idea what kind of camera Mabel used for these photos, nor what kind of film. There probably wasn’t that much variety available in the 1920s, and she was not a “professional” photographer. So it may have been a Brownie and whatever B/W film Kodak was selling at the time.
My stepfather, Ray Yourdon, was born in 1922; and his older brother, Marvin, was born two years before that. You’ll see photos of Ray and Marvin when they were young boys, when they were in high school, and when they went off to join the Navy and the Marines to fight in World War II.
Somewhere around 2005, I asked Ray if he could tell me the details of some of the photos; where possible, I have included those details in the notes for the photos. Some of the photos obviously evoked pleasant memories, and I heard stories about minor day-to-day events in his life that I had never heard before. But we rarely got through more than a few pictures before he ran out of energy; and so many of the photos have no explanation at all.
At this point, my parents and grandparents are all gone. I have cousins who grew up in the same area where these photos were taken, and one or two of them are still in that area. They may be able to fill in a few of the details; otherwise, you’ll just have to accept these photos as a glimpse of what life was like nearly a hundred years ago ...

When Formosa lilies reach the end of their life cycle, their heads droop and eventually fall. This photograph was taken on a Fuji X-E3 but the lens I used was unusual, to say the least. A friend (thanks John) gave me an adaptor which allows me to shoot with lenses made for Bronica ETR bodies. This shot was taken with the PE100mm f/4 macro lens @ f/22. The bokeh is not great, but I like the slightly soft rendition that is characteristic of older lenses.
Today’s exam was English. The exam was quite nice, since the text we had to analyse was by the same author as a text I analysed for practice. I was kind of surprised that, when I had finished the given task, I had more than an hour left. After checking again for some spelling mistakes, I finally haned the text in about one hour before the end of the exam. I assume the others were quite shocked. One even commented with „Are you crazy ?“. However I think it went well and the mark I’ll get will be okay.
As for the MoC, I though about what to build for the English exam for quite some time and finally figured that I mostly use the English language for communicating on the internet. So I built a computer and added the USAs flag, so it is connected to English. Actually, I wanted to build the Union Jack aswell, but it was not possible at that size. USA flag design inspired by Andrew Somers.
English was my last written exam. The next exam will be the social science/economy oral exam on either May 27th or 28th (the final date has not been revealed, yet).
Thanks for all the support with the written exams ! All the nice comments motivated me a lot !

And that's a wrap! I have more but they get a little spoilery, so I'll save those for after the movie's out. :)
The final sunset we saw at lake ohrid before we flew back to holland after a great vacation.
so beautiful...miss it already
This is it, the final race.
Will be sad letting it go, but I am looking forward to seeing all your lovely faces for one more ride @ Tour de Girelta.
Peeked at during last night's raucous "final" shindig, when I dared to release my camera from the duct tape if only for mere seconds. A great time and a completely full house!
A crashed DC-3 on an Icelandic beach in front of the highland glaciers.
The DC-3 belonging to the US-Army crashed in November 1973 during the landing procedure. With no petrol and no radio the pilots decided to land on the beach of Sólheimasandur, which is this then the final destination of the aircraft.
The shot is composed of 23 shots taken with a Sony A-6500 (Sony ILCE-6500) and SAL 70400G2 and LA-EA3 as RAW. Stitched and converted to JPEG with LR 6.
After many months the final 2 class 707 units were delivered to South West Trains at Clapham Junction by ROG. All that was needed was a last return working with the barrier wagons which is seen here at Sandling Station with 56 303 almost at the end of its journey. The train ran as a 6K89 with a 1108 departure from Clapham Junction.
Making its final call at Peterborough in revenue service, LNER no. 91117 "West Riding Limited" pauses at P3 with 1E18, the 1400 semi-fast InterCity 225 service from Edinburgh Waverley to London King's Cross.
This would be the final time passengers could board a train powered by 91117 on the ECML.

I chose this title for this particular image because this is in fact my final frame from my Canon.. I did however just recently invest in the new Nikon D810 today so I look forward to learning this system for the future of my captures. This was one of those special moments down by the ocean where the elements seemed to come together perfectly. I used some previsualization techniques to capture the multiple exposures needed for this scene from multiple time frames. I shot this scene for a series of hours half hour before sunset, half hour after sunset, and a few further beyond. I then manually blended these exposures for light and the color.
Technical stuff... Multiple exposures manually blended with my own creative touch and feel.
One has to wonder what folks on US-71 in Fayetteville Arkansas think as one of the last two B-29's "Doc" flies over on its final approach..

The final winter for the Green Bay & Western before the takeover by the Wisconsin Central. Here is the eastbound road freight at what I think is near Blair, WI. A night of heavy drinking in LaCrosse, WI the night before may have clouded my memory. Any corrections are welcome. Alco C424 #312 previously wore an experimental paint scheme, but by this time was repainted in traditional GBW colors.
We walked and walked, and walked and this was our final destination. We were walking in this beautiful nature for four hours and it was great, clean weather, trees, the river and a bit of cold. And we wanted to go more, well, we were thinking of going to the other station and this is the view of it, you can't see it, but it's near.
The final few, I just couldn't leave out of this 'wedding album'. Darius and Samoa both wear outfits designed and created by me :-)
On the last night of the photo workshop, we headed over to this special little place… felt like we were time traveling!
A closer look at the sunset from the same spot, but a short while later. My friend Ayman took another really spectacular shot that I like, l hope he postes it on Flickr!
