Mike- (our friend, resident of Manchester, and the day's tour guide) said this building was nicknamed the file cabinet.

My desk in the office.

Burlington, Vermont 38 feet tall, made of real file cabinets welded on top of each other into a skinny, towering pile. A sculptural statement built in 2002 by Bren Alvarez.

This bathroom, had THEE most DISGUSTING decor in the WORLD. The wallpaper, was brown, orange and white flowers. SO SO SO ugly.

We got ourselves an old filing cabinet the other day, but it was a bit dreary so we've cheered it up a little!

The old tenants of our new office were a skatewear company and left this great old filing cabinet behind. We've decided to keep it. Pete Barr-Watson gave us our first sticker for it. Cheers Pete!

The Cockpit

Clean, minimalist (relatively), clear space to focus on the task at hand. Adjustable lighting to focus on different areas of desk as needed.

Behind me are my project and reference shelves so they are within easy reach, but out of sight/mind while actually working.

This photo is taken from the doorway, so you can see that the door is in my peripheral view, minimizing sneak attacks from ninjas.

In front of my desk (to the left of the picture) is a convertible space, two chairs set up for visitors, and a music practice space with guitar gear tucked away to make room for the sitting space.

To the right of this picture are more bookshelves and filing cabinets.

The filing cabinets are going elsewhere and a 38" bench is going in their place. I'll still be able to reach the drawers on the big bench, but have a dedicated spot for sawing, polishing, soldering and other metal work. Oh and the Foredom will hang right over the new bench. OMG. I can't wait.

And here's the real LifeHack in this office - the ScanSnap scanner. That little gem solved our biggest issue in making this small office productive. I had a two drawer lateral full of records, owners manuals, reference files, you name it. We used the ScanSnap to scan it all into Evernote, where it's searchable, accessible from anywhere, and most of all, not taking up space in my little office. Without this nifty gadget, this single wall, dual station office would never have been.

Until 5 February 2023, Madrid is hosting the GAUDÍ exhibition, where visitors can learn about the life and work of one of the most outstanding figures in architecture and art on an international level.

In the context of Catalan Modernisme, Gaudí developed a radically new architecture with modern and original projects never seen before, conceived as a whole and planning not only the structure of the building but also all the decorative elements it would include.

The GAUDÍ exhibition highlights the originality of the forms, the ornamentation, the chromaticism, the richness of the symbols and nature as a source of inspiration, as the main protagonists of the Catalan's work. In addition to all these elements, which are impressive for their beauty at first sight, other aspects underlying his work are revealed, which reveal his innovative constructive solutions, the fruit of the study and painstaking work to which he devoted his entire life.

The exhibition offers a journey through his entire career through 7 sections and more than 150 works from the most important collections of his work, such as the historical archives of the Architects' Association of Catalonia and the Gaudí Chair, as well as some private collections.

From plans, drawings and models to furniture, ceramics and period photographs. All this brings us closer to his main architectural projects: the Vicens, Botines, Calvet, Batlló and Milà "La Pedrera" houses, as well as the Sagrada Família temple and his projects for Eusebi Güel, among others.

Check out all the information and don't miss this unique opportunity to get to know modernist Barcelona from the hand of one of its greatest representatives: Antoni Gaudí.
