Just found these today while looking through my disorganized file cabinet- I had originally found this in our garage wrapped around a glass cup. After they pulled out of the Grocery Business, they started selling Electronics and that grew. Fry's Electronics is still around today and has almost the same logo as the one above used for the grocery. When they closed, Save Mart acquired all of them, but they let many go to become other markets or businesses or in the case of the one on Foxworthy- it became homes.
The locations are as follows:
1. 1965 Foxworthy Ave. San Jose- torn down in 1999 for 45 Single Family Homes
2. ???? South White Road. San Jose- not sure what became of this one, the address is unreadable
3. 850 E. Hamilton Ave. Campbell- now a Pet Smart
4. 1070 Story Rd. San Jose- across from the Super K mart turned Wal Mart. Now a Save Mart Supermarket
5. 3475 Mc Kee Rd. San Jose- torn down to build a new Save Mart Supermarket
6. 12610 El Camino Real-no city specified, so I definitely don't know what became of this one
7. 5401 Camden Ave. San Jose- became a child's party place known as Bamboola, that closed, it is now the Jungle(same as Bamboola...)
8. 1215 Calaveras Blvd. Milpitas- now an Asian Supermarket under the name Ocean Supermarket.
9. 15625 Snell Ave. San Jose- now a Pet Club Store
10. 1641 N. Capitol Ave. San Jose- now a Save Mart Supermarket

ScavChal June 2013 #13 ~ Files can be found in your toolbox, personal grooming kit or in a filing cabinet, or may even refer to people or items arranged in line one behind another ("marching in file"). For this assignment, you may NOT use electronic files or media (no disks or drives, etc.), and you must make an interesting image themed on "file."
Have a terrific new week, my Flickr friends! Thanks so much for coming by!

Black Metal filing cabinets have been re purposed to store clothing. Sofa was found...and yes, I cleaned it. The little brown drawer is an antique used to store sketch books I'm done with. My friend's dad made the table that's sitting on top of the filing cabinet. I had used it for my kitchen cutting table a long time ago, but now it serves as a shelving unit. It contains an old school projector (because I'm cool like that and I can make large drawings with it) and a smaller projector from Texas Art Supply for smaller drawings. There's also a glass cabinet that was found and it stores more PC parts like USBs, DVDs, etc.
I have finally got around to visiting the inside of the new Library of Birmingham. Around 18 days after it first opened!
Got in just before 4pm, and left before 5pm.
Level 2: Knowledge Floor.
Historic books, no longer hidden behind the scenes!
Filing cabinets.
I plan on keeping the layout of everything on the desk the same for a while. The amount of free space I have on this desk is so much greater than my last. It is 100% easier to work on.
I do not like file cabinets! I use binders to organize everything. Each color is for a different subject, and then I place resource books by the binder that goes with it. The bottom shelves contain baskets with materials for lessons (for every day other than today), and the very bottom shelf contains copies and materials for upcoming weeks.
CalTrans Headquarters District 7 Building
Thom Mayne, Morphosis
100 South Main Street
__________
The 13-story, horizontally skewed CalTrans headquarters generated plenty of debate when it opened in 2004. Designed by Thom Mayne [founder of Morphosis], the pproject has been praised by some ffor its sleek, modern look and compared to a file cabinet or the Star Wars "Death Srar" by others.
When it comes to environmental credibility, however, the reviews are all positive.
Developed by [Los Angeles] Downtown-based Urban Partners, the CalTrans edifice features windows that allow light in but not heat, to help regulate interior temperatures without overusing air conditioning and heating systems. Th buildings Southern-facing facade is covered with photovoltaic panels which collect solar energy for a green power source. The building is encased in a high-performance "skin" that mitigates heat gain dring the day in order to put less pressure on the mechanical systems. "Skip-stop" elevatores stop only on every third floor, to save energy and encourage a more healthful workplace by forcing workers to use the stairs. (Another elevator for those who cannot navigate stairs is available.)

__________
Thom Mayne, with Michael Rotondi, founded Morphosis in 1972 to develop an architecture that would eschew the normal bounds of traditional forms. Beginning as an informal collaboration of designers that survived on non-architectural projects, its first official commission was a school in Pasadena, attended by Mayne's son. Publicity resulting from the publication of this project led to a number of residential commissions, including the Lawrence Residence.
Since then, Morphosis has grown into prominent design practice, with completed projects worldwide. Under the Design Excellence program of the United States government's General Service Administration, Thom Mayne has become a primary architect for federal projects. Recent commissions include: graduate housing at the University of Toronto; the San Francisco Federal Building; the University of Cincinnati Student Recreation Center; the Science Center School in Los Angeles, Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona, California; and the Wayne L. Morse United States Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon.

I found this in my file cabinet a few days ago, where I must have tucked it 45 years ago. I had no idea it was there.
I attended the workshop, and took many photos, some of which I've posted here on flickr. Easiest way to find them is to click my Album called Musicians.
By the way, does anyone know what Undaru means?
This filing cabinet constitutes my zine distro, CornDog Publishing. If you're not sure what a zine is then you should really have a look, they are small self published magazines that can contain pretty much anything. A lot of my zines have a punk bent to them, but by no means are all zines punk.
