and a lil snack, a fat free fig newton... yummy

I've uploaded these in honor of Wildlifeuplift and his little raccoon friends.

They didn't want to have to share their newtons. When they got one, they would run off away from the others to eat it! What funny little characters!

08.24.09: Jana surprised me with tickets to a Twins game and a delicious dinner bento prepared by Chef Felipe! So much fun and so delicious! Thank you Jana! Thank you Phil!

I had been coveting this print by Melinda Josie in Magic Pony for well over a year. When we went in this past summer they only had two left, so Matt and I decided that it was a must purchase. We just had it framed last month by Barbara Coulter Johnston and her husband in Windsor, who really did a most stellar job of it. And now, it's finally up!!!

i can never resist figs...:) i started making these when my kids refused to eat the store bought fig newton bars.

I love it. The shoes are divine and fit like a dream. The baby socks are unreal they're so tiny.

Thanks April. Honest :)

This was 80 fig newtons for my grandfathers birthday. The theme was "80." He got 80 pennies, 80 pieces of candy...etc.

I photographed the entrance to 1875 Kennedy Steam Bakery which is now lofts but I missed this plaque which is a few doors down from it. I didn't realize that the Fig Newton was first mass produced here! Very cool. The description reads:

"In 1869, Frank Kennedy introduced the reel oven, which works like a ferris wheel, moving dough automatically through the heat. This new method increased speed and control, allowing for many different kinds of cookies and crackers. In 1892, the Fig Newton, made with James Mitchell's newly patented 'pie-making' machine, was first baked and named on this site."

Inspired by a Fig Newton magazine ad, that showed an oil painting-like still life featuring Fig Newtons.

Fig Newtons as fine art.

So I took it one step further. Took the Fig Newton painting image, and made an ATC out of it. :-)
