Was it Newton or Leibnitz that discovered the calculus? Turns out it doesn't matter: they're both delicious in their own way

Fig Newtons: Comic Book Advertisement (Nabisco Brands) 1984
Appeared in: Tales Of The Teen Titans: Comic Book Issue No. 48, Nov 1984 (DC Comics)
People think eating figs will help them do better at math because Sir Issac Newton ate them. Hence the name Fig Newton and the large number of math majors who eat them. Ohter people think that you burn more calories eating figs than the figs contain, leading to a hot bod like Olivia Newton-John. Hence the name Fig Newton and the large number of models/actresses who eat them. Which one is right? I dunno--go fig-ure.
This is enough for eight days on the trail (and in the cabin). Photo taken before I repackaged everything

Babo informed me that Fig Newtons are a smart cookie. If you are struggling mentally just nibble on a Newton or three and feel the resurrgence of brain activity. After all, Fig Newtons are named after the man who discovered that you could sqeeze a fig into a soft cake pastry and call it a cookie.
I tried to remind Babo that Newtons were named after the town in Massachusettes. He glared at me in that smug, condescending manner of a person with a higher IQ and ordered me not to confuse him with the facts.

I wrote this entry when I was sad about a guy I liked online. I decided to "get over it" and I turned the computer off on a Friday afternoon, and watched some old tapes, and that episode of South Park I quoted was on one of the tapes.
That picture was probably stuck on the page days and days prior to that entry. I have a tendency of printing out my most recent pictures and just putting one to a page.
these were the biggest fig newtons i've ever seen.

From the Desserts by the Yard cookbook.
These were a little tricky...I made a small batch one day that worked...but barely. The next day I made a larger batch and rolled the dough thicker. They worked perfectly.
Interestingly, these tasted much better on the second and third day. On the first day, the cookie had a bit of crunch. By the second and third days, the crunch was gone and they tasted alarmingly like the store bought Fig Newtons...only better.
I will make these again.
I've uploaded these in honor of Wildlifeuplift and his little raccoon friends.
They didn't want to have to share their newtons. When they got one, they would run off away from the others to eat it! What funny little characters!
Part of a series that begins here.

I had to use dried figs instead of fresh, but these cookies still turned out really tasty.

There were a lot of gulls out on this day and they were causing havoc with all the other birds. I just started shooting in the direction of all the splashing and noise and found this one when reviewing on my PC. Looks like a coot found a fig newton and the gull wants it.
