Although an aircraft won't be breaking the speed of sound at an airshow, they can get rather close. Parts of the plane can still be supersonic. If the conditions are just right, stuff like this happens.
After the previous weekend at the Edmonton Airshow, I got a much better feel for what is possible with the Canon 6D w/ 70-300mm L combo. I'd say the AF is pretty quick, quick enough for this shot :) Can't think of too many other things I'd try to take a picture of that's near the speed of sound haha
I had a fantastic time in Abbotsford this past weekend. The airshow was great. It's everything I hoped it'd be and more! The F-35 and Zero fighter were quite an interesting surprise. I'm probably airshow'd out for the rest of this year. I don't know how some people do it, going to multiple shows in a year. I'm probably good with two in a calendar year.

Shock photo of Disney's aggressive expansionism. The disturbing reports suggest that the American cartoon giants plan to invade Macau, an occupation that will see the small island nation turned into the worlds biggest cuddly toy production line. Disney have been quick to deny this, Mickey Mouse himself issuing a statement in defence of the continued incursions into Macanese air-space.

An F/A-18 Super Hornet roars into the sky with twin afterburners glowing, cutting through stormy skies at the Great Colorado Air Show. The intense orange of the engines against the gray backdrop captures the raw power and speed of modern aviation.

The plane that I was most excited to see fly at the airshow this year! A restored Mikoyan Mig-17 Fresco flying during the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was unique to see this Cold War era jet. The Mig-17 was actually the most feared fighter plane for a time. No NATO fighters were able to beat it until the F4 Phantom II entered service in the 1960s. It was still cool to see and just as intimidating as it was back in it's prime.
The latest moc is one of my first military builds in my time as an AFOL. This build was inspired by the new Lego element 49307, which is a 1x1 modified brick with a curved top. I used it to edge the wings and I think it was a perfect application for that.
