Tommy Blackburn, the man assigned to form and command Fighter Squadron 17, was noted for using any and every tactic to boost moral. One of those tactics was the use of the Skull and Crossbones and the name Jolly Rogers for his squadron.

The Utah AIr National Guard, Utah Army National Guard and Air Force Reserve conduct a joint training operation April 12, 2014, which included an air refueling of F-16 fighter jets, air reconnaissance and rescue of a downed pilot. Maj. Gen. Jeff Burton, adjutant general of the Utah National Guard, observed the exercise up close from the cockpit of a participating F-16 fighter jet based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

a muay thai fighter, I estimate about 14 years old, prays before going into the ring.
this is one of those times I badly wished I had better equipment. it was so dark in there, and yet so much interesting to photograph.

All that snow fell overnight. Even with the ground clear of snow it was deemed too dangerous for the fighters to do their shtick.
