Another of Bow Fiddle from my trip a week or so ago

Bow Fiddle Rock is a destination in Scotland for many landscape photographers.

A more artistic take on the well-known composition at Bow Fiddle rock - blurry and cool blue-green tonality.

A natural sea arch on the Moray coastline near Portknockie.

Bow Fiddle Rock, Portknockie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Bow fiddle Rock lies off the shore from the fishing village of Portknockie. The rock sits 50 feet high and the natural eroded sea arch resembles a bow and fiddle.

Bow Fiddle Rock is a natural sea arch located on the Moray coast of northeastern Scotland, near the village of Portknockie. I had such a pleasant time sitting here in the sunshine on a little bench. It didn't take long before I had company on the bench and then ensued some lovely conversations because the people of Scotland are super friendly and so nice! I sat there while my brother clambered down to the base of it, then all around the cliff side to the right and I think we both totally enjoyed this location in our own ways. :D

Sometimes a bit of weather adds to the mood.

Bow Fiddle Rock

A violin bow tip

Bow Fiddle Rock is a natural sea arch near Portknockie on the north-eastern coast of Scotland. It is so called because it resembles the tip of a fiddle bow.[1]

It is composed of Quartzite, a metamorphic rock which was originally quartz sandstone.[1] This rock is part of the Cullen Quartzite formation which is seen along the coast between Buckie and Cullen and is some 2,400m thick and dates from the Neoproterozoic Era, 1,000 to 541 million years ago.[2]

These rocks were folded when the ancient continents of Laurentia and Avalonia collided during the Caledonian orogeny. They later became exposed at the surface where sea and weather eroded the structure seen today.[1]

The rock formation is both a tourist attraction and nesting place for sea birds including herring gulls, great black-backed gulls and lesser black-backed gulls.

Wahr ist das Meer,

wahr ist das Gebirge,

wahr der Stein,

wahr der Grashalm

aber der Mensch?

Es ist immer maskiert,

auch wenn er es nicht will

und nicht weiß.

The world's largest violin in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

It was soooo cold and windy on that morning, stood on Shining Tor, it's debatable if the camera shake was caused by the freezing cold or the ferocity of the wind. I barely managed to stand up and point the camera south to take this shot, so juddery in the Force 10 on the hilltop, I thought Lightroom would never manage to stitch three shots together for the pano. I love how the race track A53 Cat & Fiddle road sweeps and twists through this landscape. You can follow it right across the image even to where it disappears off to the right towards Macclesfield. Of course you can admire the beautiful, tranquil countryside this way. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEKKy72If3I I'm guessing somehow word has got out that the average speed cameras along there don't work.

Portknockie - Ecosse

This tiny screw is just 2mm across.

Another Bow Fiddle from Feb 2103, a longer exposure, pushed harder in Lightroom and Silver Efex to bring out the dark moodyness (kind of fits the sea of confusion after yesterday's mess of an election result...)

My fiddle and bow, more precisely, readied for the next jam session. For a sample of my fiddling: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD1JD9t2Yno
