Ficus trees are a plenty in south Florida. This happens to be the trunk of just one.

This cactus is found all over in greece and the flowers are regularly visited by honey bees during spring and early summer month.

Opuntia ficus-indica (prickly pear) is a species of cactus that has long been a domesticated crop plant grown in agricultural economies throughout arid and semiarid parts of the world. Likely having originated in Mexico, O. ficus-indica is the most widespread and most commercially important cactus. Common English names for the plant and its fruit are Indian fig opuntia, Barbary fig, cactus pear, and spineless cactus, among many.

I wouldn't normally shoot this tree (the Mazones Ficus in Almoradi, Spain) from the 'outside' as it comes into its own when you get under the canopy but the light broke through and picked it out against some nicely moody skies

I may have gasped a little when I saw this gorgeous face appear into the light from the darkness of his bedroom.

I loved seeing Annika and Ficus together for a few weeks. At first, Annika seemed to be playing hard to get, but Ficus showed his devotion, and won her over. He would often sit a few feet from her while she slept, keeping watch, while he almost nodded off himself as he fought to stay awake. He approached her gently and kissed her head; she opened her eyes for a moment to appreciate the affection. I saw them sharing kisses multiple times and sleeping close beside each other. Could there be Caracal kittens in their future? I will always remain hopeful, and in the meantime, just the sight of these gorgeous cats makes me very happy.

The Sacred Fig, Ficus religiosa- known as Peepal in Hindi, is a species native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, southwest China and Indochina. It belongs to the Moraceae, the fig or mulberry family.

In the Hindu religion, Peepal tree has a lot of reverence and significance for people. People worship the tree and perform a puja. The tree is known for its heart shaped leaves that have long narrowing tips. The origin of peepal tree can be traced back to the times of Indus Valley Civilisation (3000 BC - 1700 BC) in the Mohenjodaro city. Excavations are suggestive of the fact that even in those times; the peepal tree was worshipped by Hindus.

During the Vedic period, the wood obtained by cutting Peepal tree was used to produce fire. In the ancient Puranas, an incident has been described in which the demons defeated the deities and Lord Vishnu hid in the Peepal tree. Since, the Lord resided in the tree for some time; the tree holds great importance for people. Thus, people began worshipping the tree, considering it to be a means of offering prayers to Lord Vishnu. There are a few legends, which suggest that Lord Vishnu was born under the peepal tree. There are a couple of stories, which say that the tree is home to the trinity of Gods, the root being Brahma, the trunk is Vishnu and leaves represent Lord Shiva.
