Ficus leaf is a Macro photograph of a ficus leaf on a lightbox, converted to black and white and inverted.

'Deconstructed Ficus Leaf' was created from a few strips of a macro photograph of a ficus leaf. At this time my native country is facing an unprecedented wave of Corona Virus. There is a shortage of wood for funerals in many cities, and gravediggers are working overtime. The strips in this image represent the logs of wood used in traditional funerals. The light in the middle represent the souls of those who have died at this time. The arrangement of the strips of the leaf represents the chaos surrounding cremations and burials. The whole image is a tribute to a beloved uncle who did not make it, and whom I did manage to see in the beginning of the pandemic. We had lunch together, and a conversation in which all the dots did not add up. My uncle insisted in hobbling all the way to the elevator to say goodbye. I knew I would never see him again.

A drive up the windy mountain roads west of Brisbane took us to Mount Glorious (619mtr) in the D'Aguilar Range, part of the Great divide. A stop to have our sandwiches before a hike through the rain forest. While it was a humid 34c when we left Brisbane, under the canopy of the forest in the mountains it was a comfortable 22c. Many birds, butterflies and spiders and a little Pademelon were spied along the way. We were even fed on by leeches.
It is certainly a good way to get away from it all and get back to nature. The giant trees were amazing. These are the roots of a giant Small leaved fig tree. (Ficus Obliqua). These trees can grow to over 60mtr tall (200ft). But they can also be grown as Bonzai.

Close up of one of Alicante’s renowned Ficus trees, some of which are around 100 years old.
They’re striking features of many plazas in Alicante and also at the end of the Explanade which is a promenade that runs alongside the coast road.
