The country of Malta has a few small islands but otherwise is comprised of two large islands, Malta and Gozo. Ferries between these islands are frequent and sizeable. All in all there are four vehicle ferries used, three being a standard size and somewhat larger than the one seen here the Nikolaq.
We had been warned that there might be a delay when returning to the mainland.

Inside the ferry that takes you across the river between Levi and Quebec City. It is so convenient but we never saw a huge crowd taking this ferry in the time we were there.
the ferry in toreboda is pulled by a human, in this picture a friend passed by to meet him. Lina is swedens smallest ferry and the takeover takes only 20-25 seconds
River ferries are fortunately an inherent part of Brisbane life and help bring the city to life after dark. This is the view across to Woolloongabba from New Farm. It's the view from my building's top floor. The Central Business District is one ferry stop upstream to the right. This ferry terminal here is Sydney Street.
Torres del Paine National Park, in Chile’s Patagonia region, is known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs that cleave from glaciers and golden pampas (grasslands) that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos. Some of its most iconic sites are the 3 granite towers from which the park takes its name and the horn-shaped peaks called Cuernos del Paine.

This is the ferry that runs across Mobile Bay, connecting Dauphin Island and Ft. Morgan. It carries automobiles and people on regular runs throughout the day. It is an interesting design in that it can travel in either direction so it never turns around when leaving or approaching the dock...a very efficient operation.
One day while on our trip to the area, we drove to Mobile by highway, then swung down to Dauphin Island and returned to the east shores via ferry....a delightful experience.

The Corran Ferry (MV Corran, 2001) takes cars and foot passengers on the 5 min trip from Nether Lochaber to Ardgour across the Loch Linnhe narrows, Scotland. There has been some kind of a ferry here for centuries and it lies on an ancient drove route for bringing cattle to market. It is one of few remaining scheduled mainland vehicle ferries in Scotland, saving an hour-long drive.
Just got back from a short trip up to San Francisco. The wife and I walked a lot & ate a lot. We even met up with Dustin Diaz. You can only imagine the excitement rosalie had listening to 2 guys talk about photography.
I am going to start putting together a big San Francisco set. Until then I will post shots that I like but just won't fit into the style of the set. This is one of them I took at the Ferry Building.
