El Fernsehturm (en alemán, Torre de televisión) es una torre de televisión ubicada en el centro de Berlín, capital de Alemania. Es un punto de referencia muy conocido, cercano a la Alexanderplatz. La torre fue construida en 1969 por la extinta República Democrática Alemana (RDA) y su imagen fue usada desde entonces por el gobierno de la RDA como un símbolo de Berlín Oriental. Desde ella se pueden ver fácilmente todos los distritos del centro de Berlín y continúa siendo un símbolo de la ciudad.

Alexanderplatz (Berlin Alexanderplatz) es una gran plaza ubicada en el área céntrica de Berlín, Alemania, cerca del río Spree y el Palacio de la República, entre otros edificios históricos. Originalmente se llamaba Ochsenmarkt o mercado del buey, uno de los centros neurálgicos de la ciudad como Potsdamer Platz.

Alexanderplatz is a large public square and transport hub in the central Mitte district of Berlin, near the Fernsehturm. Berliners often call it simply Alex, referring to a larger neighbourhood stretching from Mollstraße in the northeast to Spandauer Straße and the Red City Hall in the southwest.

I'm taking a break from my usual nature photography this week, to post some photos of Berlin, from my trip there 3 years ago, on November 2003. Me and my wife stayed there for only 4 days but we enjoyed it very much!
This is a photo of the Fernsehturm, captured from far away. It was originally a dull photo, so I toyed with the levels a lot to exaggerate the colors and intentionally enhanced the noise to make it more interesting, to me at least :-)
The Fernsehturm (German for "Television Tower") is a television tower in the centre of Berlin, Germany. It is a well-known landmark, close to Alexanderplatz. The tower was built between 1965 and 1969 by the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), and its image was used as a symbol of Berlin by the GDR administration. The tower is easily visible throughout the central districts of Berlin, and remains a symbol of the city.
The original total height of the tower was 365m, but after the installation of a new antenna in the 1990s, the height is now 368m. The Fernsehturm is the third largest structure in Europe, after Moscow's Ostankino Tower and Riga Radio and TV Tower. There is a visitor platform and a restaurant in the middle of the sphere. The visitor platform is at a height of about 204 meters above the ground. The restaurant, which rotates once every twenty minutes, is a few meters above the visitors platform. (Originally it turned once per hour; the speed was later doubled, and tripled following the tower's late 1990s renovation.)
Inside the shaft are two elevators for bringing visitors into the sphere section of the tower within 40 seconds.

Der Fernsehturm befindet sich im Park am Fernsehturm im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte. Er war im Jahr der Fertigstellung 1969 der zweithöchste Fernsehturm der Welt und zählt mit über einer Million Besuchern jährlich zu den zehn beliebtesten Sehenswürdigkeiten in Deutschland. Stuttgart (Swabian: Schduagert) is the capital and largest city of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Stuttgart is located on the Neckar river in a fertile valley known locally as the "Stuttgart Cauldron." It lies an hour from the Swabian Jura and the Black Forest. Since the 6th millennium BC, the Stuttgart area has been an important agricultural area and has been host to a number of cultures seeking to utilize the rich soil of the Neckar valley. The Roman Empire conquered the area in 83 AD and built a massive castrum near Bad Cannstatt, making it the most important regional centre for several centuries. Stuttgart's roots were truly laid in the 10th century with its founding by Liudolf, Duke of Swabia, as a stud farm for his warhorses. Initially overshadowed by nearby Cannstatt, the town grew steadily and was granted a charter in 1320. The fortunes of Stuttgart turned with those of the House of Württemberg, and they made it the capital of their county, duchy, and kingdom from the 15th century to 1918. Stuttgart prospered despite setbacks in the Thirty Years' War and devastating air raids by the Allies on the city and its automobile production during World War II. However, by 1952, the city had bounced back and it became the major economic, industrial, tourism and publishing centre it is today.
Stuttgart is also a transport junction, and possesses the sixth-largest airport in Germany. Several major companies are headquartered in Stuttgart, including Porsche, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG, and Dinkelacker.
Stuttgart is unusual in the scheme of German cities. It is spread across a variety of hills (some of them covered in vineyards), valleys (especially around the Neckar river and the Stuttgart basin) and parks. This often surprises visitors who associate the city with its reputation as the "cradle of the automobile". The city's tourism slogan is "Stuttgart offers more". Under current plans to improve transport links to the international infrastructure (as part of the Stuttgart 21 project), the city unveiled a new logo and slogan in March 2008 describing itself as "Das neue Herz Europas" ("The new Heart of Europe"). For business, it describes itself as "Where business meets the future". In July 2010, Stuttgart unveiled a new city logo, designed to entice more business people to stay in the city and enjoy breaks in the area.
Stuttgart is a city with a high number of immigrants. According to Dorling Kindersley's Eyewitness Travel Guide to Germany, "In the city of Stuttgart, every third inhabitant is a foreigner." 40% of Stuttgart's residents, and 64% of the population below the age of five, are of immigrant background.

Der Fernsehturm Bern-Bantiger ist ein 192,2 Meter hoher Fernsehturm in Stahlbetonbauweise knapp unterhalb des Gipfels des Berges Bantiger (947 Meter über dem Meer) bei Bolligen in der Schweiz. Mit dem Bau begonnen wurde 1992, die Einweihung erfolgte 1997.
