This is the technique I used for the Skipper Kite and a soon-to-be-photographed MOC, as well.
No, the gap isn't completely closed, but it's real close, so I can't be arsed to find a better-fitting technique that compensates for that tiny slot.
I'm not sure if this has been done before or not, but here you go.

My Fender EVH Wolfgang guitar as just released by Fender last week. It was at NAMM in Jan. '08 and in my living room shortly thereafter. This is #34A (there are three finishes so 'A' would refer to tobacco-burst finish) of 500 of these sent out initially to stores.
I love it!!!!! My playing has already jumped to a new level due to each part of this guitar being extremely well thought-out and a good fit for my playing style.

Illuminated with a Jinbei M-500 left of subject 25° with 1.5m rectangular softbox. Gold reflector to right. Triggered with a sync-cord.
Spotted during a walk along the Trent & Mersey Canal at Willington, this Narrowboat Fender maker, had moored up his boat at Willington Wharf, and was selling an amazing array of Boat fenders and sundries.

I've never noticed that reflector or light on the side of these.

The Crude Tanker Statia fendering up prior to a Ship to Ship oil transfer this morning. Nice to get a splash of colour as it has been awfully grey and dreich.
