This was a tough shot - had to shoot directly into the morning sun...
Sydney's popular harbour-side face, the entrance to Luna Park at Milsons Point
, continues to swallow funlovers of all ages, as they seek time out from the worries of the world.
I occasionally see an osprey in the San Francisco Bay Area, usually in flight and from a distance. Sanibel Island is a prime hunting ground and haven for ospreys. I saw them everywhere, often at close range.
when it's this cold make sure you feed the birds.
Make sure to shovel a little bare ground below the feeders. Birds like that.
Was sorting photos and found this gem... Binky has a unique way of telling me when it is time to get up and feed him or else I risk losing a toe. *LOL* Still trying to figure out the movie editor on my new computer. It won't read the files straight off the camera and somehow I lost sound on it when converting it from .mov format, but there wasn't much sound with it anyway. Enjoy!
This video is now also available on youtube if you prefer to watch it there.
I had a serious problem with Feedly today that has been documented here. This is what I wish would have happened.

Feeding is fast: less than a second and the mother is gone. The babies will then wait anxiously to get another ration...
Granddaughter Fiona looks on as her Mom feeds a Lorikeet nectar from a cup. I watched carefully for her reaction to the birds. She was interested but cautious and a bit afraid of them at first. By the time we left the enclosure she had warmed up to them quite a bit but not enough to feed one herself.
Taken during a fun 30 Aug visit to the Columbus Zoo.
Lorikeets are a true medium sized parrot native to Australia Indonesia and New Guinea, and New Zealand.

This lovely lady comes weekly to feed the pigeons behind the Eaton Centre... she feeds them some kind of grain - she brings bread too, but they don't like it as much... These pigeons clearly trust her! Not only do they flock around her and eat happily out of her hand, they weren't in the least bit concerned when I approached to take pictures...
This is the Millennium Park site adult female feeding her newly hatched chicks. A patron and friend of the program who lives across the way from the nest was kind enough to let me camp out on his balcony so that we could get a chick count without disturbing the family. Three chicks.
This little bird couldn't get enough...regurgitated sunflower seeds. So cute; so nasty. Best (or worst, depending on your views on bird vomit) viewed LARGE!

I was playing around in photoshop. Here, Grandma and Athan are feeding a dolphin at the World of Sea.
This was taken yesterday in my back garden. We had some beautiful light after a very dull start to the day and I took advantage of it.
I used the Canon 75-300 IS lens but the bird feeder is about 3m away from my backdoor so I can't get as close as I'd like. This is a very close crop of a much larger image. The original crop is 1188x1188 pixels but I really like how this came out.
There is purple fringing on the highlight around his mouth, and in his eye but it's not too bad thankfully.
