Apparently it is normally children that get the fun job of feeding the swans but on the day we visited there were no children. So adults had to stand in - Paula is second from right with the backpack!

If you visit the Wat Prok Charoen temple in Thailand, you get the chance to buy some food and feed the fish.

I passed on this and decided to shoot while the food seller tried to increase his business by feeding the fish himself.

Shot while visiting Damnoen Saduk, a floating market in Thailand.

Tricolored Heron chicks yelling for food. They are hilarious to watch when their parents come back to the nest.

Watched two feedings in my time viewing these little ones. They're approximately 5 days old here, one being almost a day older, I believe.

This Forster's Tern was begging for food from its mate, who was flying by with a fish in its mouth. I'll post more pictures of it being fed..

Little beetle feeding, dont know the species, please let me know

As i mentioned yesterday, the little woodpecker was quite noisy and called for more food..

Well, seem its mother heard it and got some ;-)

She kept coming back to feed more and more and the youngster was still hungry and noisy :-)

It wasn't easy to get this shot here because it was pretty dark there and the woodpeckers are fast!

So i had to use a pretty high ISO to get an acceptable shutter speed which was mostly too slow still..

But i'm pretty happy with it, though its technically not 100% perfect. :-)

It was great to watch and enjoy!

I also crossed 2 Million views some days ago.. Thank you very much!!

There are several of these call stations on the Barry Goldwater Bombing Range near Yuma, AZ. Someone placed a geocache near each one and called them Zombie Feeding Stations.

These are actually a puzzle caches, meaning you have to solve something to get the actual geocache location.

Well, attempting to feed them. I'd kept some cabbage leaves for them, but apparently they hadn't had the memo about green leaf veg being good for them. They sailed past to a bloke who was feeding them bread. You'll regret this later waterfowl!

It's hard work being a red panda and having to look your best to entertain the visitors at Bristol Zoo. A good helping of bamboo leaves is what is required to keep me looking in tip top condition.

I have been blessed that a song sparrow built its nest outside my kitchen window in a pygmy date palm. I didn’t notice the nest until a few days ago. I have set up my camera with telephoto lens on the kitchen counter to capture the activity when I have time. I did find after the first two days of shooting that I needed to trim a few palm fronds to get a clear shot at the nest (Mom was not very happy that I was so close to her babies).

Only one is visible in this shot, but there are definitely two chicks in the nest. I have only seen their heads when they pop out of the nest to be fed. When mom is in the nest keeping them warm, there are times when I can’t see her at all, although most of the time her tail feathers stick out and occasionally, she pops up her head up just far enough to see her eyes scanning for potential signs of danger.

I have been surprised by how frequently she has fed her babies. Her babies are on a diet of small snails, worms, bugs and seeds. I have also learned she keeps a very tidy nest as I have seen her fly off with debris in her beak.

All grown up and furiously active, this is an extremely rare shot of a 15 day old (even for me hehehe!) ;)

This litter has found new homes over the weekend. As always, I feel sad to say goodbye, time passes so quickly! I am much cheered though, that Mrs Souffle-Tortilla is pregnant again :3 More teeny bebehs to come!

Thanks to Rick Schultz of Wausau, WI for getting me on life bird #685, a Bohemian Waxwing near the Liberty Mutual Insurance buildings in Wausau. We were able to see and photograph 55 BOWAs feeding on crabapples, sunning themselves, and snacking on snow.

"Like other [species of] shovelers, frequently observed feeding [video] in groups, stirring up water surface by swimming in tight rotating circles [video], but lone birds can also swim in tight circles [video] to create whirlpool-like effect, to bring food to surface (Snow and Perrins 1998, Kear 2005).
