When we have the time we sometimes feed Cleo her kibble one by one. We make her move a bit which is something quite unusual for a cat like Cleo wo thinks twice before she lifts a paw, but the main effect of this way of feeding is that it takes her longer to eat and she feels more sated afterwards. It's not always easy to find volunteers for the job, though. Cleo doesn't bite but she tends to use her claws to get the kibble. You can tell by the fingernails that the volunteer in this case was my niece Natalie.

I hope the hummingbird from last summer returns soon

Another take on an old idea

I couldn't see what these eagles were snacking on but it must have been delish. Don't forget to check out the VLOG Below!!

We have a hatch in our local eagle nest, with one of the adults seen here feeding one of its young, its gray barely visible behind the sticks of the nest. I will be checking often now as the eaglets grow and the nest becomes much busier.

Feeding on an insect of some sort.

Drone Fly on some of the wildflowers growing in my lawn and borders.

Eristalis tenax, the common drone fly, is a common, migratory, cosmopolitan species of hover fly. It is the most widely distributed syrphid species in the world, and is known from all regions except the Antarctic. It has been introduced into North America and is widely established.

It's always feeding time.

The Grafelijkheids Dunes near Den Helder form the northern part of the North-Holland dunes. These dunes were once a separate island, Huisduinen.

Due to dehydration from water exploitation and then a sudden rise in the groundwater level, vegetation in the Grafelijkheids Dunes has gone wild. Lots of rare plants such as orchids disappeared. Instead, thick growth of bushgrass and creeping willow grew. Scottish Highlanders, Dexter cattle and ponies were released. The area is surrounded by a fence to keep the livestock from wandering away.

My first sighting, and there were 3! The sap from this shrub/tree is very appealing. butterflies, bee, hornets, wasps, ants and a variety of other insect will feed on it.

This Marbled White was busy flitting from flower to flower feeding along Fenn Creek, but I managed to grab a shot! Shame about the grass stalk through the middle of the shot, but never mind!

The shores of Lake Ontario around the Golden Horseshoe are mostly covered with rocky breakwalls except for the occasional beach or conservation area like the one pictured above.

Here, the shore is allowed to erode naturally, forming these cool ~25' sand cliffs. They make ideal nesting spots for thousands of starlings, 113 of which are pictured here (yes, I counted).

I feed the crows at my house. I had just put some food in my truck and I left the door open. The crow flew down and perched himself on my truck door waiting for me to feed him. I thought it was so funny. :D

Fledgling male Downy Woodpecker (left) being fed by his rather worn looking mother. Definitely my favorite time of year, with all the baby birds leaving nests now.

This Arctic Tern returns to feed its chick with what appears to be a dragonfly, but the wind was blowing so hard it doesn't land, and instead feeds the chick while still flying. I had never seen this before and I didn't know it had occurred until I processed this image. Wow, that's quite the control while flying! I watched several terns flying in place into the wind during my visit to the marsh. I had to be so tough on these birds to fight these strong winds.

The African wild dog (Lycaon pictus), also known as the painted dog or Cape hunting dog, is a wild canine native to sub-Saharan Africa. The African wild dog is an endangered species, with only four remaining populations in Africa, one of which is Kruger. Their survival is dependent on the pack. A wild dog by itself is not that much of a threat to other animals, but a pack is a different story. In this image the mother had just got back from the hunt with the pack and the pups go frantic trying to feed off her as well as eat the regurgitated remains of the kill - normally an impala. Challenging focus as they never stop moving!

In recent years, rhinos have been threatened by poaching, urbanization and pollution, which have left certain rhino species on the brink of extinction while leaving other species severely endangered.

Rhino horns are in great demand in many southeast Asian countries like Vietnam. The Chinese use it as an aphrodisiac and make traditional medicines with it. More than ever, rhinos need care and conservation now. Organisations and non-profit groups across the world are engaging in anti-poaching measures.

The rhinoceros is our planet’s armoured giant. There are five species of rhino – white and black rhinos in Africa, and the greater one-horned, Javan and Sumatran rhino species in Asia.

The white rhinoceros or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is the largest extant species of rhinoceros was busy grazing at sunset. Photographed during a photography safari on a late evening game drive in the open savannah plains of Africa.

As I do every so often, I have posted the exact same image as yesterday's post, but this one is processed more realistically than that soft and nostalgic image.

I have also flipped it horizontally just for fun.

Which one between the two do you prefer? Or do you like them equally?

Many photographers don't enjoy time spent on processing their images. Not true about me. I love every minute of it, creating lots of variations for almost every image. It fulfills my need to create, and now that I'm retired, I have a lot more time to enjoy my photography :)

It is feeding time at Eagle watch this morning. Glad to report that we have one healthy baby in the nest. Seems to have a very good apetite for a little one!

HUNDREDS of Pelicans competing in a feeding frenzy well off the coast at Malibu ! I guess they found a shoal of "something" nice to eat !!! There were TWO separate dark patches way out in the Pacific with LOTS and LOTS of birds (mostly Brown Pelicans) feeding continuously.
