In the warmth of an old trunk...
"Ana Chata" Mountain, "Pedra do Baú" Complex, São Bento do Sapucaí, São Paulo, Brazil.
Watching the birds in our garden.
Thank you all for your visits comments and faves much appreciated!
Have a great weekend!
This sharply attired black-and-white starling has a pointed yellowish bill with an orange base. Mainly black upperparts with white belly and white rump noticeable in flight. Note the bare, deep orange patch around its eye that contrasts with its white cheek. Easternmost birds have a white, streaked forehead. Seen in loose flocks close to human habitation feeding on human refuse. Garbage dumps, damp grazing lands, and well-watered parks are its favoured haunts. Noisy with a variety of calls that includes mimicked sounds of other birds. (eBird)

As we were getting organized to start the morning's birding, this lovely starling flew into the trees along the highway and sang briefly. A great start to Dubai birding.

Flickr feed issue:
The last photo I uploaded was invisible in the feed of many people. I thought Flickr had rectified this issue, but apparently it is back and just as irritating. The whole point of sharing photos is that they may be seen and the feed is the main source. Let's see what happens with this one......
I took a snap of these deers glazing the grass at a very close range. It was actually near the parking lot at one of the outlook points inside the Badlands National Park.
This is the time of the year when many of these little birds are busy feeding cuckoos.
This beauty surprisingly was ringed.

Thanks as always to all those kind enough to stop by to view, fave and comment on my photos. It is as always most appreciated and welcome.

Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)
Lovely to see the Swan family at the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands all healthy and well. The four cygnets are getting quite big now.
I am assuming that someone had been 'feeding' them before I arrived, something I really don't like seeing.
This fledgling Jackdaw arrived very wet, and vulnerable on our veranda this morning. It hung around for quite a while entertaining us by begging for food and jumping up onto my hand to be fed with a morsel of biscuit. It's parents were keeping an eye out for it and eventually managed to coax it back up where it belongs....
I'm very grateful for all your visits and would like to thank you now for stopping by, and any comments you may leave. Much appreciated, John...

Mr and Mrs Robin have a hungry family to feed!
Since the parents were not too wary of me I tried placing a mirror so that I could see what was in the nest. It did work but I couldn't get any useful photos.
I am so happy to see that all three of the Black Oystercatcher chicks have made it - so far. One parent is always on guard while the other parent brings in tidbits and feeds each chick in turn. The chicks are already experts at hiding in the rocks when not being fed. They blend perfectly into their environment.
We knew our starling visitors were feeding chicks when they suddenly went bonkers for bird food. We waited in anticipation for them to fledge and here is one of the first.

A fledgling American Robin begging Momma to feed him the worm she just caught! The little one got to enjoy the worm snack. Photo taken in our backyard in Camas, Washington.
