Bear Butte is a geological laccolith feature located near Sturgis, South Dakota, United States, that was established as a State Park in 1961. An important landmark and religious site for the Plains Indians tribes long before Europeans reached South Dakota, Bear Butte is called Mathó Pahá, or Bear Mountain, by the Lakota, or Sioux. To the Cheyenne, it is known as Noahȧ-vose ("giving hill") or Náhkȯhe-vose ("bear hill"), and is the place where Ma'heo'o (God) imparted to Sweet Medicine, a Cheyenne prophet, the knowledge from which the Cheyenne derive their religious, political, social, and economic customs. The mountain is sacred to many indigenous peoples, who make pilgrimages to leave prayer cloths and tobacco bundles tied to the branches of the trees along the mountain's flanks. Other offerings are often left at the top of the mountain. The site is associated with various religious ceremonies throughout the year. The mountain is a place of prayer, meditation, and peace. The park includes a campsite west of South Dakota Highway 79 where horseback riding, fishing, and boating are permitted. On the summit side of Highway 79, a moderately sized herd of buffalo roams the base of the mountain. An education center and a summit trail are available. Official park policy advises visitors to Bear Butte to respect worshipers and to leave religious offerings undisturbed. Park fees are waived for those undertaking religious activities. In 2007, Gov. Mike Rounds of South Dakota announced a proposal to use state, federal and private money to buy a perpetual easement in order to prevent commercial and residential development of some land on the western side of Bear Butte. This would cost more than $1 million, but would prevent development of nuisance businesses (such as potentially lucrative biker bars) on ranch land near the mountain on the northern edge of the Black Hills.

It is an amazing thing to sit next to a glacier, you can hear it creaking and cracking. Although the crevasses look fairly small, they are huge.

These are OCs that I have made over the past fee months, but haven’t posted because I’ve had no idea what to do for either backstories and/or names. If you have any thoughts, feel free to share them.
Bloodred: I made him for the LoH Heir to the Cloak challenge, but I don’t have a good backstory.
(Name TBD): No backstory or power ideas. This is just a combo that was too good to pass up.
Nirv: OK. I had a backstory for her, but I stepped back and realized that it was WAYYYY too dark and *ahem* adult for LoH. Her powers are something to do with controlling people with tendrils she produces from her body, but the particulars are still to be decided.
Sorry for the lack of actual content here. Hopefully some of you can lend me some ideas to flesh these characters out more.

Several years ago, I was invited to create an image for an exhibition to be called Moulin Rouge. This absinthe fairy was my submission to that exhibition, which sadly never opened. Absinthe, called "the green fairy," was the drink of many of the artists and writers who congregated in Montmartre, in particular, and Paris, in general, including Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Charles Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust, Aleister Crowley, Erik Satie, Edgar Allan Poe, Lord Byron and Alfred Jarry.

On the windows of Friendly's Tap in Berwyn, IL, they advertised their coffee offerings by painting the window. When I looked at it, I focused directly on the "fEe" portion of the word...and that was all I saw. So I took out my phone and made an exposure of just how I saw it.

Mount Cayley Volcanic Field (MCVF) is located near between Squamish and Pemberton and is part of the Garbaldi Volcanic Belt. This area is located in the northern part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, resulting from a subduction zone which runs from Northern California to Southern BC, Canada.
The MCVF is interpreted to have erupted under a glacial ice sheet that covered the area during the last Ice Age. The resultant volcanic features are often dome-like or steep sided with a flat top. There are several volcanoes that predate the glaciation. There are at least 13 volcanoes in the Mount Cayley Area including, Crucible Dome, Slag Hill, Cauldron Dome, Cheakamus Valley, Pali Dome, Mount Cayley, Ember Ridge, Mount Brew, Mount Fee, Vulcans Thumb, Pyroclastic Peak, Powder Mountain and Wizard Peak. The volcanoes are composed of basalt to rhyolite extrusive igneous rocks.
The first eruption in the area started approx 1.6-5.3 mya with the lastt in the past 10000 years.

A Gallery grave is a form of megalithic tomb where there is no size difference between the burial chamber itself and the entrance passage. Two parallel walls of stone slabs were erected to form a corridor and covered with a line of capstones. The rectangular tomb was covered with a barrow or a cairn. Most were built during the fourth millennium BC, though some were still being built in the Bronze Age.
