4me4you features: The Hidden Giant of the 'Golden Circle'
Artist: Neil Stoke
Introducing Neil Stokoe: The Hidden Giant of the 'Golden Circle'
Neil Stokoe, often regarded as the hidden giant within the esteemed 'Golden Circle' of the Royal College of Art, stood among illustrious contemporaries such as David Hockney, Frank Bowling, R.B. Kitaj, Allen Jones, and Patrick Caulfield. Despite the urging of his close friend Francis Bacon to showcase his paintings, Stokoe shied away from the vibrant art scene of 1960s London, leading to his relative obscurity today. It wasn't until his retirement in 2002 that Stokoe unveiled any of his work, having lived a solitary, reclusive life dedicated to intensive studio work in his west London residence, devoid of any desire for public exhibition.
Now, featuring paintings from his estate, some never before displayed, the exhibition offered an insight into the essence and evolution of Stokoe's art across decades. His invigorating style transcends time, with many pieces reflecting the psychologically charged interior spaces emblematic of the 1960s and 1970s. Inspired by architect Richard Meier, Stokoe's lush oil-on-canvas depictions of interiors captivate viewers. His later works from the 1980s and 1990s venture into experimental realms, featuring gestural paintwork and the bold, sharp hues reminiscent of Pop Art, as evidenced in the piece 'Spiral Staircase with Two Figures'. Echoes of earlier themes persist, influenced by his exploration of landscape architecture in his formative years.
Neil Stokoe’s son reflecting on his father's legacy, remarked, "Neil crafted a distinctive body of figurative painting, nurtured within the Royal College of Art's familiar milieu but cultivated in relative darkness, obscurity, and isolation from prevailing trends. This allowed him to maintain a high level of quality control over his work and shielded him from superficial art world trends. Only posthumously is his work beginning to receive the acknowledgment and acclaim it deserves."

This catalog diorama features the pirates in a treasure cave. The halberds and knight helmet in the corner give the impression that this treasure has been here for a long time and was buried during the previous century. Although the Harbour Guards do not appear in this diorama, one of the pirates is carrying a guard’s musket with bayonet fixed.

4me4you features - “Louche”.
4me4you recently had the pleasure of visiting Rhodes Contemporary Gallery which featured the artist Kevin Sabo.
Sabo’s art is instantly recognisable: bold, punchy, and unapologetically vibrant. His exaggerated figures riff on pop culture while playfully subverting traditional gender norms. With a blend of surreal satire and sharp social insight, his work occupies a space where humour meets provocation.
His pieces have appeared in solo exhibitions around the world—from New York and Paris to Brussels and San Francisco—and have been featured in publications like Architectural Digest and Metal Magazine. In his latest body of work, Louche, Sabo deepens his investigation into drag culture and its intersections with corporate power.
“The way I portray my male and ‘female’ characters reflects how I navigate these archetypes in today’s social and political climate, not just in the U.S., but globally,” he says. “As women and queer people face ongoing threats to their rights and are politicised in regressive agendas, I feel compelled to respond through my work.”
His male characters—often stretched thin, almost floating businessmen—are caught in scenes that parody outdated notions of masculinity. In contrast, his female figures exude poise and self-possession, captured in ordinary moments with serene grace. These juxtapositions challenge familiar gender roles and celebrate queer resilience, power, and joy.
Sabo describes his aesthetic as living somewhere between elegance and mischief. At first glance, his imagery may feel light and playful, but there's always an edge—a subtle tension humming beneath the surface.
“It’s like being at a chic party where the atmosphere feels just a little too heavy,” he explains. “There’s a glamour to it, but also a sense that something unsaid is hanging in the air.”
He often starts with archetypal gestures—a woman lighting a cigarette, someone applying lipstick—then reimagines them through his own visual lexicon. These seemingly simple actions take on new dimensions, hinting at deeper stories and an undercurrent of mystery.
“That’s the essence of Louche,” Sabo says. “It’s the allure of the slightly off-kilter—something captivating that also feels a little dangerous. Beauty with an unraveling edge.”
Lately, Sabo has been pushing his practice further, layering raw textures and expressive graphite lines into his acrylic work. This new direction adds a lithographic quality that amplifies both depth and intensity.
With Louche, Sabo not only expands his technical range but also reasserts his dedication to exploring urgent cultural and political questions.
Through a mix of wit, critique, and visual seduction, he invites viewers to consider the complexities of identity, while celebrating the boldness and joy of those who live outside the norm.

4Me4You Features - “ICONS”.
ARTIST: BOOGIE MOLI
4me4you visits Quantus Gallery, which featured BOOGIE MOLI - “ICONS”.
Moli’s Icons celebrates sporting icons such as Pelé, Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan, but is also underpinned by a layered social and cultural commentary, including nods to his African roots.
Boogie first took a brush to trainers and started selling them to friends, but soon moved on to canvases, and inspired by his idols such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, George Condo and LA-based artist Retna, soon developed his own graffiti-style of work.
Moli Icons bears the influence of Pop Art (most evident in his détournement-heavy portraits of Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe), which is one of several artistic touchstones for Boogie. He also uses several interesting techniques, including wheat paste as an adhesive, the mix for which Boogie makes himself.
