Lori Longueville, left, director for Illinois Action for Children and a professor at John A. Logan College, and Dona Reese, an assistant professor in the School of Social Work, talk Monday during a luncheon supporting child care at the Student Center. Students in Reese’s class presented their semester project reports on child care statistics in Carbondale and southern Illinois. According to Longueville, 45 percent of parents miss at least one day of work every six months due to poor child care. “Currently, child care in Carbondale costs the same as tuition to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale,” Longueville said. Featuring the top 100 players in each respected region make the NUC Five-Star Showcase an all MVP event. The NUC Five-Star Showcase is looking for Class of 2016 and select 2017 high school athletes that have Division 1 offers and possible under the radar players that we feel can play at the scholarship level! With the NUC Five-Star Showcase now going into its third year, history shows that 90 percent of players that have finished in the Top 5 at each position received scholarships. This is a chance for athletes to prove themselves and compete against other top athletes in individual positional drills and one-on-ones. There is no testing just football related drills and competition.

Dwayne Morgan, a Redshirted Junior, from Baltimore, Maryland, makes a block with the help of his teammate Jamal Aytes, a Senior, from San Clemente, California. Both are Forwards for the Southern Utah Basketball Team. Morgan led the team with 21 points total and Aytes followed along with 7 points. The team lost 96-91 against the Vikings.
