Water feature at the Parques das Nacoes

I always carry a smaller camera as a backup and duplicate shots or take the quirkier or casual snaps with it. Having uploaded a selection from the Canon 5D this is the G1X selection.

This "movie" is my attempt at animating the output of my gravitational simulation. Please note that my simulation is an extremely simplistic implementation of Newtonian physics. This particular simulation starts with many hundred objects in a "Dole pineapple" shape, with given rotational velocities based on the total mass and assumptions of elliptical orbit around an equivalent central mass.

This particular simulation begins with a high mass density, and low relative kinetic energy and angular momentum. As a result, the gravitational attraction tends to pull all the mass together. As the system collapses, much material is ejected from the system. Objects that get too close are allowed to have an inelastic collision and thus small objects can become larger ones. The differing colors of objects are related to their total mass.

Note that the video is nearly impossible to view unless one makes it full screen by clicking the icon in the lower right hand corner.

A photo I took of my wind chimes, made from vintage flatware, is featured on page 48 of "The Old Farmer's Almanac for KIDS" just published. YAY!

I created a tutorial for the windchimes last summer, seen on my blog here:

As I set up to shoot this porker, it raised its head, right into that patch of light, to look at me. It's like it was posing for me. I wish I had the drainpipe with me for a closer look.

This used to be my sexiest pair of jeans, which highlighed a nice flat tummy that curved in from the waistline. 3 years of working at a computer a lot later(read: minimal exercise), it's become a bit more rounded out than curved in. I hate it but haven't found the motivation/discipline to change it yet.

These earrings feature a mix of purple feathers and matching purple glass beads. They dangle from strands of silver toned chain, are very lightweight and hang from stainless surgical steel ear hooks, which are detailed with matching purple beads and are great for sensitive hypoallergenic ears.

Earrings measure approximately 6 inches from top of ear hook to bottom of longest feather.
