Biocom’s DeviceFest & Expo on August 27th featured a day-long medical device and diagnostic conference that focused on the latest developments in reimbursement, regulatory issues, deal structuring, commercialization and connected health. A special feature is made of the way the bridge is lit at night. This lighting scheme was designed by Speirs and Major Associates[9] who also designed the lighting for the Burj Al-Arab. At night the bridge handrail and footway are lit with designer blue and white LED lighting built into the handrail that changes colour as users cross.[31] Attached to the steel cable ties are white metal-halide up-lighters to illuminate the white painted bridge arches, and blue LED down-lighters to illuminate the water and ground surfaces immediately below the deck.[31] At night from certain viewing angles when the river surface is flat calm, the twin arches together with their reflection in the river appear as an infinity symbol ∞, and it is this effect that inspired its name.
In the wake of Afghanistan’s landmark Presidential and Provincial Council elections on 5 April, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Deputy Special Representative for the country, Ján Kubiš (right) and Nicholas Haysom, respectively, today visited the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in the capital, Kabul, where they met with its Vice Chairman, Abdurrahman Hotaki, and its Chief Executive Officer, Zia-ul-haq Amarkhil and others, to discuss the ongoing process of vote tallying after the polls. The UN officials also visited the National Tally Centre, where polling centre results from Afghanistan’s 34 provinces are in various stages of processing.

Mazda rotary engine cars have won 100 IMSA races; GTU victory in the Daytona 24-hour race; IMSA manufacturer and driver titles; the Spa 24-hour race; five class victories at Le Mans; two British Touring Car titles; and most famously, Le Mans in 1991 with the 787B, the only Japanese manufacturer to have won Le Mans and the only rotary to win the world's most demanding race.
In the United States more people race Mazda cars or Mazda engine vehicles on any given weekend than any other marque.
The sculpture represents Mazda's Kodo design philosophy of strength, beauty and tension found in the instantaneous movement of living things and the simplicity that reflects Japanese aesthetics. Gerry Judah's interpretation of Kodo is a beautiful an simple form that expresses tension, lightness and movement that belies the complexity of the structure.
The two cars are the 1991 Le Mans winning 787B and the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo car, previously a virtual car designed for the GT6 game, Mazda built this car specifically for the Goodwood central feature."

Today 20th May 2018 I attended BA Vintage Country Fair , a magnificent event featuring farm machinery, trucks , animals , army vehicles etc , it really was a magnificent event on a major scale , I had a great time, staying on site for a little more than four hours and capturing over 500 photos of trucks, tractors, armoured vehicles etc, it truly was one of the best outdoor events I have ever attended.

Features major line up of new and vintage tractors, many of which will take part in ploughing demonstrations and in a road run on Sunday. Entertainment includes the Scottish Tractor Pulling Club’s sledge demonstrations, magnificent steam engines from a bygone age with their ploughing demonstration; a timeline of ploughing with the bronze age “Ard” and ploughing with Clydesdale horses – watch out for the Young Farmers trying to compete against the Clydesdales! Displays of fascinating stationary engines, commercial and vintage vehicles, threshing mills and a photographic collection by the Skene Heritage Society, giving an insight into the history of the local farming community. Family entertainment includes a Military Encampment, sheepdog demonstrations, and The Dog & Duck Show. Craft and Trade stands, music and refreshments. Complete the range of entertainment for all the family.
PizzaBuzz is, in a city so full of new restaurant openings, a very good idea indeed. The concept can be summed up (crudely) as âDIY Pizzaâ or "we have the toppings, you do the rest!" or "Subway, but with pizzas!". This doesnât really do it justice however and there is, obviously, much more to it than that - which Iâll now try to elaborate upon:
Essentially the idea is semi-self service pizza/food assembly. You take your place at the start of their "DIY pizza assembly lineâ and prepare yourself a pizza entirely of your own devising (though you donât have to do anything really asides from tell them what you want your pizza to be made of - it arrives pre sliced too, woo!).
You choose from 5 types of bases (gluten free options are available). These range from a âregularâ Margherita (cheese, tomato etc) to the Bianca (white sauce, mozzarella, parmesan) - plus a pretty fkn extensive range of toppings, divided into vegetables, proteins (i.e meats, fish) and cheese. Said toppings include such gastronomic curiosities such as bacon jam and wild rock shrimp. The recommended number of toppings for a pizza is about 4-5, though apparently one guy came in (drunk) on a Friday night once and ordered a £20+ pizza that contained EVERY SINGLE topping they offered. It ended up looking like a pyramid (hahahahaha!)
And, if you donât fancy coming up with your own pizza, their âsignature collectionâ of pre-designed pizzas come in around £10, and have names like Middle Earth and Etna. Once youâve picked your combo of ingredients, it takes them about 1-3 minutes to cook the whole thing in their wood fired ovens - so you might even be able to describe it as fast food. Takeaway is also an option. In the Southern Italian style, you can also get a burrata (and choose what ingredients to have it with, which is the recurring theme...)
As for the ambiance - PizzaBuzz lives inside the brand spanking new Alphabeta development on Worship street. On the inside it has a minimal vibe - almost the feel of an industrial space about it. Except theyâve made it more friendly with offcentre animal illustrations drawn onto the walls (pictured) plus their colourful logo and a recurring love of hexagonal things. Plus staff singing along to the music (not sure if this is an actual feature or if I just came in at the right time ^_^)
I must also tell you about the dough - which took a yearâs development and is quite something (theyâve got a video called âJane Doughâ in which the dough explains this all to you in a Yorkshire accent, lol). Anyway, it comes from a small mill in Oxfordshire and is, unusually, 50% spelt. I am told that this results in better texture, digestibility and mouthfeel than regular pizza. This is a big claim to make, and Iâm not sure I agree - the pizza I had, however, WAS very good and thatâs all I can say about that.
All in all, Pizzabuzz is taking a very good idea from another restaurant (*ahem*) and applying it to pizza very, very well. I wasnât surprised to hear that they have another site opening soon and can see them doing pretty well in future. Inherently, itâs fun, a bit silly, and provides you with a lot more choice than most of the (pizza based) competition. Definitely a place Iâd recommend to everybody (because who the hell doesnât like pizza, really?!)

You’re a Daisy If You Do… Stu Ewy of NHB/NMRTC Bremerton Main Operating Room is presented with the Daisy Award by Lt. Cmdr. Brad O’Keefe, pediatric nurse practitioner and command Daisy Award coordinator. The award, established in 1999, is an international program which rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by a nurse. The presentation was included in the command’s commemoration of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and the Navy Nurse Corps 115th birthday, officially held every May 13 since 1908 (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB/NMRTC Bremerton public affairs officer).

“Peace, order and good pot”. This was a great story on Canada’s most radical experiment in free schools in the late 60s, early 70s. The Rochdale College at the University of Toronto was a government-funded experiment that quickly went out of control, and became North America’s drug-dealing centre. It juxtaposed that time with the moral panics of modern high schools.
In 1994 a huge schism had grown in Canada between youth and the wider media. Young people were not reflected anywhere and their views were ignored. That is, until Watch Magazine exploded onto the streets of Toronto and into the halls of the city’s high schools. I was hired by Youth Culture to be the Editor-in-Chief for this unique business: a magazine staffed by high school students but covering the wider worlds of pop music, culture, fashion, politics and the arts.

This is a panoramic shot of almost 70 year old Nemani Haveli at Churi Ajitgarh in Rajasthan. Being from the same town, I had the pleasure to visit this marvelous piece of architecture with a local guy who took me in and around this haveli and it is no less than a palace in itself. The front doors leads you to a huge hall with ancient furnitures, decors, Belgian mirrors, paintings of lord krishna and many such things. This haveli has the first and only haveli with a swimming pool in this town which was used by the foreign delegates in the past.
This haveli is still being well maintained by the Nemani's who are a well known name in the business world of Mumbai

The overall layout of this small urban space did not change in the re-design. The existing paving was cleaned and slabs removed from around the edge of the upper level to accommodate flush planting beds. The unsightly asphalt roof of the shed was covered with luxury artificial turf to improve its appearance and add a dash of colour to the space. A large cube pergola was constructed in the centre of the space from green oak timber, from which a series of silver aluminium chain link curtains were hung to form a fluid decorative ‘wall’. The client’s existing table and chairs were placed inside this structure to create an unusual and intimate area for alfresco dining.
The client’s existing wooden daybed was moved to the rear left of the space and a bespoke water feature constructed against the rear wall. This feature was based on a traditional fireplace, to give this section of the garden a ‘living room’ ambiance. Constructed from chunky sections of green oak timber, the feature comprised a stainless steel water blade mounted on the fireplace ‘mantle’ from which water cascades into a cobble dressed reservoir in the flower bed below. The alcove above the mantle features a powder-coated steel ‘outdoor wallpaper’ on a Perspex backdrop. Taking pride of place above this was a life-sized moose head light, formed from polyresin and lit from within to create an eye-catching talking point.
The right hand boundary wall was adorned with a series of bespoke trellis screens of various dimensions. Fashioned from stainless steel mesh mounted on green oak ‘noggins’ to raise the screens away from the wall, these screens provide a unique frame upon which climbing plants can be trained.
