A feather from a wood pigeon who landed on the fence. It stayed there for about a day blowing in the breeze.

Thank you very much for your visits, comments and faves!

HMM!

This very handsome bird flew into our shop window. After a bit of T.L.C it recovered well, sang us a very melodic *Thank you* song and departed...

Robin maybe?

A feather I found by my backdoor before Christmas which I have been saving to play with.

Wish you a nice weekend!

And thank you so much for your views, faves and comments!

First shot on the roll. Not exactly in focus, but I like the way the red at the top of the image matched the red of the feather duster.

One from a disintegrated feather duster.

more of the same..

I bought the bag of feathers before christmas - i have so many and absolutely no use for feathers!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

Partially illuminated frosty feather on ice. Not quite in sharp focus but saving for now. Can't pass up a feather. :)

Recent very cold weather created a thin layer of ice on parts of the park lake. Had to grab a few quick photos. Temps to warm the next several days so most of it will slowly begin to melt.

Sorry for so many photos, just saving memories, no need to comment.

The only cygnet of 7 eggs laid rests in the feathers of its mums back. One egg fell out of the nest and broke and the other cygnet that hatched has disappeared. 4 eggs remain in the nest and mum is still sitting on them in the hope more hatch. Last year all 7 hatched and all 7 survived to become aduts.

On our most recent nature outing, a friend of mine picked up this large Great Blue Heron feather to show me, unaware that he was actually presenting me with TWO very cool things. This jumping spider had made a little silken home here, not realizing its abode would be of such interest to passing humans. Sorry, little guy!

This species is found all over North America, and I'm delighted to encounter it anywhere. Both of my photos today show it, though this one is browner than I'm used to seeing.

One single long exposure. No photoedition : straight out of the camera except for contrast/crop.

First try with the Plexiglass feather tool attached with the universal connector from Light Painting Brushes.

A lot to learn and to improve in the way I use this tool, but it's fun to use.

I was trying to create a shot of three feathers floating gracefully downward in the wind. But then I saw three fish swimming in green waters. And now that's all I see.

Bird banding involves fitting bands with unique numbers onto the legs of wild birds. Once banded, the lives of individual birds can be tracked through time.

Took a very short walk on a cool, very breezy winter morning with temps just below freezing. A few feathers trapped in the partially thin icy coating on the lake. Taken looking down from the top of a wall along the lake shore. Can't pass up feathers. :-)

The ice won't last long with temps rising to around 60°F today and high 60°s F tomorrow before returning to more normal temps after. Sorry for so many photos, haven't been out much. Was hoping to make it to the wildlife refuge when 400,000 snow geese and 487 bald eagles were there but couldn't work it out. :(

Converted to B&W using Flickr's built-in editing tool. I held the feather up and out over a quiet patch of water in the Rideau Canal. Had to choose between this and a backlit photo of a spider in its web, but I like the way the quill and downy bits turned out in this one.

Feathers, such delicate structures.

Dharavi has a very tight knit potters community (Kumbharwada), so tight that they have open fired kiln right in the middle of their homes. As the pots get baked, potters are turning their wheels, moulding clay and getting ready with the next batch.

For the Macro Mondays group, on the subject of 'Fill The Frame', this is not what I was initially going to do, but test shots of that looked very drab...

It appears that there's a small gap in this, but there is another feather under there - it's just the flash does not seem to have penetrated!

Love watching birds in my backyard. This is a young one that is still being fed by Mama bird.
