Back in 1986 the now preserved 50050 "Fearless" is seen ticking over at Paignton awaiting its next train north.
I stood my ground, without thinking about it. J-lo was feisty. I had been photographing a child on a pony, dad was holding her, it was a country wedding, a beautiful morning. J-lo was at the other end of the field, seemingly quiet, grazing. Something caught her attention (my flash?) and with much whinnying she bolted towards me at a full gallop. I barely had enough time to get my lighting assistant in place and raise my camera as she sped toward me. I didn't think to move, as she turned at the last second and whisked past me. Being a wide angle lens at the full 16mm, she looks further away here than she really was. But I trust horses, I know they wouldn't deliberately run into something. It was great fun. We tried to make her do it again, but of course that was never going to happen...

2014–15 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. This was the last day of the last event of the World cup.

Peter Prevc and Jurij Tepeš became the sixth and seventh man in ski jumping history to achieve a "perfect jump", with all five judges awarding them top style marks (5x20). This took place in Planica on 20 March (Prevc) and 22 March (Tepeš) (2015). (Wikipedia).
Some of the wildlife around Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes had no fear of people at all. I sat down to get a rock out of my shoe, and felt a chipmunk run across my other foot!

BR class 50 "Hoover" 50050 "Fearless" under restoration at Yeovil Railway Centre during the Yeovil 150 event on 21st July 2010. Despite appearances, the engine had been started earlier in the day.
50050 was built at Vulcan Foundry and delivered in BR Blue livery as D400 (the first of the class) in October 1967. In its early years it and the other 49 locomotives of its type were used on high speed passenger duties on the (then not electrified) northern half of the West Coast Main Line.
Following electrification of the northern half of the WCML the entire class was reallocated to the Western Region, where they displaced the popular class 52 "Western" diesel-hydraulic locomotives. Unreliability led to a major refurbishment of the entire class at Doncaster Works from 1977 to 1983, following which all but the first six were outshopped in the then new "large logo" livery which "Fearless" still carries the remains of. 50050 was one of the last two of the class (with 50007 "Sir Edward Elgar") to be withdrawn from mainline service in March 1994.
With hindsight the "Hoovers" (as they became known) were a classic case in how not to do procurement. Whilst the DP2 prototype upon which they were based was by all accounts a conventional and reliable machine, the specification for the production locomotives included unproven (to the UK at the time) new technologies such as a complex electronic control system, rheostatic braking, inertial air filtering and slow speed control (the latter never needed in service!). These contributed to poor reliability, and as a result the refurbishment programme they underwent was earlier and far more major than it might otherwise have needed to be.

Fearless Girl is a bronze sculpture by Kristen Visbal, commissioned by State Street Global Advisors via McCann New York, depicting a Latina girl facing the Charging Bull (or "Wall Street bull") statue. It was installed on March 7, 2017, at Bowling Green in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City. The statue measures approximately 50 inches (130 cm) tall, and weighs about 250 pounds (110 kg).
Fearless Girl was commissioned by investment firm State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) to advertise for an index fund which comprises gender-diverse companies that have a higher percentage of women among their senior leadership. The plaque below the statue states, "Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference," with "SHE" being both a descriptive pronoun and the fund's NASDAQ ticker symbol.
