I saw this word somewhere today on flickr and realized I need to develop this trait. I am learning to be fearless.

Taken on 12th October 2010 at Bebo Grove, Fish Creek Park. Not my hand, but I have had a Boreal Chickadee on my own hand several times when on walks in Weaselhead. These Boreal Chickadees are far less common here than the friendly little Black-capped Chickadees.

BR class 50 "Hoover" 50050 "Fearless" under restoration at Yeovil Railway Centre during the Yeovil 150 event on 21st July 2010. Despite appearances, the engine had been started earlier in the day.

50050 was built at Vulcan Foundry and delivered in BR Blue livery as D400 (the first of the class) in October 1967. In its early years it and the other 49 locomotives of its type were used on high speed passenger duties on the (then not electrified) northern half of the West Coast Main Line.

Following electrification of the northern half of the WCML the entire class was reallocated to the Western Region, where they displaced the popular class 52 "Western" diesel-hydraulic locomotives. Unreliability led to a major refurbishment of the entire class at Doncaster Works from 1977 to 1983, following which all but the first six were outshopped in the then new "large logo" livery which "Fearless" still carries the remains of. 50050 was one of the last two of the class (with 50007 "Sir Edward Elgar") to be withdrawn from mainline service in March 1994.

With hindsight the "Hoovers" (as they became known) were a classic case in how not to do procurement. Whilst the DP2 prototype upon which they were based was by all accounts a conventional and reliable machine, the specification for the production locomotives included unproven (to the UK at the time) new technologies such as a complex electronic control system, rheostatic braking, inertial air filtering and slow speed control (the latter never needed in service!). These contributed to poor reliability, and as a result the refurbishment programme they underwent was earlier and far more major than it might otherwise have needed to be.

"There are some women who seem to be born without fear, just as there are people who are born without the ability to feel pain. The painless ones go around putting their hands on hot stoves, freezing their feet to the point of gangrene, scalding the lining of their throats with boiling coffee, because there is no warning anguish... Providence appears to protect such women, maybe out of astonishment."

I put this outfit together, looked in the mirror, and wondered if it was a little “much.” Then I thought about B Jones and her fearless style and decided it suited me just fine.

Fearless Girl, a bronze sculpture by Kristen Visbal of a 4-foot high girl standing in a self-confident pose, is currently located on Broad Street across from the New York Stock Exchange Building. It was commissioned by investment company State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) to promote gender diversity initiatives and an index fund focused on gender-diverse companies with a relatively high percentage of women in senior leadership. The statue was first installed at the northern tip of Bowling Green on Broadway, facing the Charging Bull sculpture on March 7, 2017, in anticipation of International Women's Day on the following day. After complaints from Charging Bull sculptor Arturo Di Modica, Fearless Girl was removed in November 2018 and relocated to its current location in front of the New York Stock Exchange Building the following month. Fearless Girl was originally given a one-week City Hall permit that was later extended to 30 days. It was subsequently announced that the statue would remain in place through February 2018. The statue was removed from its original location at Bowling Green on November 28, 2018. The statue was unveiled on December 10 at its new site. As today, the sculpture's presence still relies on a temporary permit. While the dispute over the rights to the figure is over, the statue's future is not permanently decided.

MORE HERE.

He wanted to continue to climb, but at this point I realized he should probably have a safety harness on and called him to come back down.

I've seen these quite a few times before, either at Glacier or at PNW wildlife refuges, but they're always hunting and moving so fast that I just get a blurry or distant shot of them. However this weasel--part of a group one evening at Logan pass--was very interested in me. A couple of times s/he approached nearly to my feet, and within the minimum focus distance of my lens.

This and the wolverine sighting have made me much more interested in weasels. I've seen tons of otters and quite a few mink close to home. I saw a martin once in Yellowstone, but got no photos. Once I thought I saw a fisher in the Enchantments area, but it was just for a moment and I'm not sure. One thing I'm sure I have never seen living is a badger, although I've seen too many dead by the roadside. Long tailed weasel, Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, Montana.

This young child was so fearless around the wallabies in a petting area of the Featherdale Wildlife Sanctuary outside of Sydney, Australia. Frankly, although I am not one to ever procreate, but I wouldn't let a little kid do this to an animal. Sticking your face in an animal's is a recipe for getting bit, even if it is a cute little wallaby. © 2012-Current.

Mission 3 in the Imperial Conqest.

As me and my men in Hazard suits boarded Star Destroyer 'Fearless' we saw no ships or anything that could fly. Everything seemed torn up, and no one or anything there. We found the laboritory, at saw the feirsest looking thing i've ever seen. An eight foot Tal, with bio-mechanical arms, and all muscle. It was difficult to eradicate the monster, but we were able to Cease it, knowing it was the best thing for it now.

Well, it's finally in! And sorry about the angle, it was kida hard to get a good one.

Sindy was very brave, she climbed up this huge tree to pose for a photograph! Luckily she managed to get down safely, to enjoy the rest of her holiday!

From cliff jumping in Scituate - conquering fear and taking the leap

I still haven't found anything that scares Lucy. Most cats are very wary of water, but Lucy's not worried at all. A shallow stream runs past the bottom of my garden and yesterday afternoon I watched Lucy climb down the bank and cross the stream via stones and bits of fallen branch. She then climbed the bank the other side, scaled a tall wooden fence and nonchalantly wandered along the top until she was out of sight behind trees. Goodness only knows where she went after that. Anyway, 30 minutes later she materialised next to her food bowl with an expectant look on her face. After a hearty meal she sauntered out again in search of the next big adventure. I don't ask ... :)

I am so excited

and I could actually find a couple people who want to go to this concert with me

That means I don't have to go with my mom again!

Everybody in the forest knew Ed. He was the most self confident animal around. His day consisted of food and showing off. He was so egocentric he had to be in the spotlight in every possible situation. All the animals after a certain time got tired of him as he was often exaggerating and getting on their nerves. So after a while they didn´t care about him anymore. One day a new road was built near the forest and nobody had the courage to cross it. That was the perfect moment for Ed to get the desired attention from everybody again and show his fearlessness.

He stated he would be the first to cross this road. He started by observing it for a week or two and figured out most of the traffic is during the day, and at night the few cars are actually more visible because of the lights. He therefore decided to cross it at midnight. This was a fatal decision. He looked left and right a few times and saw no lights so started to run. Not for long however. He unfortunately didn´t think of one eventuality. The PP possibility. There was no car, no lights, and no sound but suddenly he felt it. Immediately he couldn´t move his left paw and couldn't feel his legs. The reason ? He had been cut into 5 pieces by two pedal project bikes. Unfortunately they had no lights and were so fast and silent he couldn´t even realize they were coming.

Sadly, that was the end of Fearless Ed.
