Libelle an Eichenblättern***Dragonfly on oak leaves

Blaugrüne Mosaikjungfer***Aeshna cyanea***blue darner

Ich möchte sehr gerne wissen, was das für eine Libelle ist.

(Identifiziert, es ist einen Blaugrüne Mosaikjungfer:) )

I want to know very much what is it for a Dragonfly

( Identifyed, it is a blue darner:) )

I do not know where this is, but I love it!!

Ficedula albicollis (French : Gobemouche à collier) - Near Plitvice NP, Croatia

From a western Europe inhabitant point of view, this bird is fascinating, mainly because in my place we only have the European Pied Flycatcher during migration, also because Collared has this distinctive aesthetic touch (namely the white collar) that makes it more attractive, a strengthened feeling if we consider the situation of its nesting area retricted to the central-eastern part of Europe, a region rarely visited by foreign birders.

I planed first to look for this bird during my first hours in Croatia, coming from Triest, Italy, and making a detour through Plitvice National Park, the best known place to find it in the country. But I learnt the entrance fee only arriving there, and I was not able to pay 40 euros (!) only for one bird, my lone target in forested area for this 3 days in Croatia.

So when going back to France through Slovenia three days later, I took the detour again, knowing a possible location just outside the Park to see it. On the road to this location, I entered the forest and made a stop at the first roadside parking available. And I do not know if it was a coincidence, but a Collared Flycatcher had his nest in a tree just few meters from this roadside !

I could then enjoy watching him going back and forth, catching prey that it provides to a nestling in the cavity. The habitat was as expected, large forest composed of old trees with a clear understory, giving to the species the space to hunt inside the forest. Maybe it is my number one bird sighting during this short trip in Croatia, and the very last, after having been the first target.

Wikipedia detail some fascinating history about the place, if you're interested. It's handy that for my 'looking through' series, the gates are rather fabulous. Imagine if the gates were deadly dull? Wouldn't be the same, would it.

I hope you're all managing to extract a teensy weensy bit of fun and frivolity out of your Tuesday which can at the best of times be rather dull and boring (as is the case in Paris today).

While walking through the gardens, I was interested to see a photographer, equipped with tripod and camera, spending quite a bit of time getting a certain shot just right. After he packed up and left, I stepped in and took a photo of the specimen also.

This fascinating amusement park was only for the Easter holidays in the Dam Square in Amsterdam. On Wednesday 15th of April it was gone, and the square was empty. We really missed it...

Always been fascinated by the moon and stars... :D

fascinating nature.. Macro 2x Laowa 65mm f2.8 at f11 adapted on Fuji X.

A fascinating insect, that has the incredible looks of a character from a fantasy story!

My photography is mostly nature. I enjoy macro photography a lot, but it is difficult to decide what a I like the most about this art.

Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the most fascinating heritage sites in Europe. It is a tidal island with a fortified medieval village that developed beneath a beautiful Gothic-style Benedictine abbey,

I was fascinated by the light and the fog, which was constantly changing and always creating new perspectives

I find details on zebras fascinating.

A fascinating village. A history board in the parking area shows what each of the buildings has been in its past, real butcher, baker and candle stick maker type rolls. The buildings were all designed by John Lessels, one of those all round guys who started life as a carpenter and ended it as an architect/artist/photographer - president of the Edinburgh Photographic Society. Bear in mind that he died on 1883, so the photographic society would have been somewhat different to any in existence today. Eee, when cameras were cameras.

One more from Jan the pup and my walk-a-bout yesterday. Thought this old tree was pretty neat and could just imagine all that ma nature has thrown at her yet she's still kind of standing proudly on her own and has healed enough to keep on growing, Did this in mono cause it really does allow it to stand out so much better

Hope your having a great sunday

Fascinating to watch this Magpie performing like a Harrier Jump Jet and rising from the floor to grab some of the fat balls. Not many left but he/she was determined to get them.

I don't know how many times I have driven up Lon Garret eager to get to the end of the very narrow, pot holed, track and discover that there is room to park and turn round. It is so narrow in many places that if you did stop in the middle of it, the tall walls on either side are so close that you couldn't open the car doors to get out. There really is no place to pass another car or park. And that's why once I had got to the end of Lon Garret I had always gone into Dinorwig quarry and never to these farm/croft ruins higher up the hill. I've never seen such small walled paddocks and fields elsewhere. The tumbledown walls leave a fascinating outline to a way of life that was idyllic, but was probably the opposite.

One day, if I thought 'one day' might still come, I would love to take those stones and re-build that little settlement and find a bit of simple living for myself. One day. Perhaps. I always was a dreamer.

Hot air from someone's dryer down the row from our house on a cold night.

Enlargen the photo (by clicking on it) to see the ice better.

I found the amazing natural ice art I hoped for yesterday, at a dam and at a waterfall after some driving. This one isn't a good photo, but this little tree still was one of the most amazing things I found encapsulated.

My album of ice and snow here.

View of the Harvest Moon over our backyard. The neighborhood cat was having a relaxing time on the fence that evening!

The Harvest Moon was probably a term used in agrarian societies as they could work till late evening, harvesting their summer bounty in the fields in the month of September due to the plush moon light.

You'll definitely notice the Harvest moon if you look around! The Harvest moon also looks a bit bigger as its lower in the sky. This Sunday night (9/11/2011) was the full moon night so the ,moon will continue to rise after sunset for a few more days!

The unusually low hanging moon and that too in the same position for several days is what makes the harvest moon so special. In fat the moon is in the same position in our backyard for the last several days and it is quite interesting for me to see it right there, as though the moon's being a friend and saying Hi!

Scientifically, it happens because in the month of September, the moon rises just as the sun is setting for a few days after the full moon. Otherwise, in the usual scenario, the moon rises at sunset only on a full moon day and rises about an hour later each subsequent day. So watch out for the harvest moon the next few days in most areas of SoCal - Los Angeles, Orange County, etc.

Went up to the Downs this morning to meet a man about a Monkey. I learnt more about the Monkey Orchid in 40 minutes than I have over the past 20 years. A monkey Orchid undergoing detailed time lapse analysis of flower opening compared over time and with Man and Lady Orchids and research into pollinating species and strategies all of which will help in the conservation of this beautiful, rare and endangered wild British orchid, fascinating.

Fascinating to watch ants - all with seemingly their own purpose in life..

I'm obsessed with clouds lately and how they take shape and move. This was taken on the plane ride home from Ottawa.

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings is a rare historical treasure. Preserved under a protective red sandstone overhang, authentic Anasazi cliff dwellings, built more than 700 years ago, await you here. There are no "Do Not Touch" signs. You are free to touch and even go inside these fascinating architectural remnants of an American Indian culture that roamed the Four Corners area of the Southwest from 1200 B.C. to A.D. 1300.

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings is located in Manitou Springs, Colorado, at the foot of Pikes Peak, the mountain that provided the inspiration for the writing of, America the Beautiful. The dwellings are open seven days a week, year round, except for Christmas Day and Thanksgiving. During the summer months, Native American Indians - descendants of the Ancient Ones - demonstrate their living culture through traditional dances handed down from generation to generation.

Next to the cliff dwellings is a three-story Pueblo-style building that houses the Anasazi museum and a Southwestern gift shop. This structure was faithfully designed and constructed in the architectural style of the Pueblo Indians, descendants of the Anasazi.

Our outdoor archaeological and natural history preserve includes reproductions of a stone mesa-top building and an Anasazi baking oven. A nature walk with well-labeled native flowers, herbs, trees and other plants connects the cliff dwellings and the Pueblo structure.

~Sophia Loren

Not really sure what Ms. Loren meant by the above quote, but being as I'd still watch her read the Yellow Pages at 94 years old, she can do whatever she wants. So you go on, Sophia--make up silly quotes...we still love you.

Captured this amazing technicolor bloom back in August during this same shoot.

Joseph is not wearing his quote

“The Red Butterfly”is a fascinating surrealist digital artwork. It features a large wall with a door and a raised window, evoking mystery and curiosity. A human figure stands on the sidewalk in front of the wall, surrounded by objects such as a worn suitcase and a fire hydrant, which add to the enigmatic charm of the scene. Above, a huge butterfly floats, casting its shadow on the wall and intensifying the surreal aura. The pastel colors are harmonious and delicate, enhancing the visual impact of the work. This work is a perfect example of classic surrealism, beautifully executed and engaging.
