CARNIVAL MONDAY, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, "FANCY INDIAN". The fancy indian is a traditional carnival character in the Trinidad and Tobago masquerade.
for a place that is so bare bones that it lacks hot water, it is neat that it has a couple fancy touches.
Inspired by the Great British Bake Off, I decided to give fondant fancies a go. Rather than go for the traditional dollop-of-buttercream-under-the-fondant approach I decided to decorate with melted chocolate. The chocolate worked really well with the lemon and limoncello sponge. Completely worth the effort!
What else is a guy supposed to do on a snowy weekend besides try out some new lighting equipment and getting some new "fancy selfies."
The Beverly Wilshire Hotel
Beverly Hills, California
This building was constructed by real estate developer Walter G. McCarty on the site of the former Beverly Hills Speedway. It was completed in 1928 (when the city had fewer than 18,000 residents), and was then known as the "Beverly Wilshire Apartment Hotel". The E-shaped structure is built of a special Tuscan stone and Carrara marble in the Italian Renaissance architecture style.

Photo of my grandfather holding my aunt as a baby, circa 1930. My grandfather loved his fancy socks! This photo was scanned from the negative. I found a nice stash of old negs at my parents house recently. This one was 6x8 cm format on 120 film. Having the neg sure makes a huge difference in the quality of the scan one can get.

The map states the location as Fancy Hill, a couple of miles from Sandidges in Amherst County, Virginia. This is also the name of the home, if a convenient sign may be trusted. A second building, purpose unknown, is close to the main structure. I'd love to know more about this beautiful home in a beautiful location.
