Last blooms of the summer. Such detail, such beauty in this common Wisconsin wildflower I photographed during golden hour in late August.
one of the highlights on a scenic motorcycle tour around the Cape Peninsula is the view over the False Bay and down to Simon's Town with the harbor and naval base

This shot was on my bucket list and it was a fun trek. Unlike the pandemonium I experienced at Mesa Arch, this site was quiet and there was only four of us sharing this area. The hike was listed as strenuous and it was a nice aerobic workout.
The Southeaster had been blowing 40+knots across False Bay all night and I figured sunrise would be a good time to try to get some shots of the waves breaking over the harbour wall. It was beautiful and exciting, but also very scary as the wind seemed determined to wash me off the pier into the harbour.

False Solomon's Seal
Photographers and botanists are known for making slow progress on hikes especially when there is a subject to examine.
Ok.
My first guess at identification was False. It was not Solomon's Seal. Nor was it Rosy Solomon's Seal or Imitation Solomon's Seal. It was not Twisted Stalk, Rosy Twisted Stalk, False Twisted Stalk or False Imitation Rosy Twisted Stalk.
Ay Caurmba!
