The waters of the South Fork of Bishop Creek tumble down the valley amid the peak of fall colors in this view from 2017. A few quaking aspens lend their gold hue to the far shore while some other plants and grasses also present yellowish greens. Yellow and gold are the definitive fall colors of Eastern Sierra trees, which generally do not turn red and orange like the deciduous trees found east of the Rockies. At this spot I was drawn to the way the water fanned over the rock on the left, forming individual fingers of bubbly water.
...We might fall from the tallest building,
We might roll a brand new car.
'Cause we're the unknown stuntmen that made Arnie such a star.

Fall evening light at Mendon Ponds Park, one of our local county parks. It's a National Natural Historic Landmark because of the unique glacial features -- two spectacular eskers and a nice kettle lake, among other geological features. It's a great place to walk and see wildlife, and has groomed ski trails in the winter.
I can't remember for sure, but I think this might have been taken with a polarizing filter so the sky wasn't blown out. The color is unaltered otherwise.

Eric and I spent about three and a half hours here a week ago Thursday. Near the end of our visit we took the tram ride around the property. The tram stopped here for a few moments. I thought, "Hey! Maybe I can get a picture!" So I twisted around in my seat on the tram and snapped. This is the result. SOOC except for cropping square, framing and signing. I'm pleased it came out!
I hope those of you in mid-America still under the Heat Dome will find this falling water refreshing!
Thanks so much, my Flickr friends, for stopping by!

More color in the pre-dawn light in Bishop Creek Canyon. This little lake is called upper inlet #2 I believe. I was lucky to be there on a Monday, the dog and I and a couple of deer were the only ones there.

On our first morning we went to Blea Tarn which is not far located from where we had our b&b. This was one of the most beautiful little lakes I have seen there. The water was like a mirror with no movement in it and together with the morning sun and the colors of fall it created some awesome golden & blue color combinations. Needless to say that this place was crowded with other photographers ;)
Believe it or not, this shot is almost ooc (polarizer ftw)

Under grey skies and crisp air, every tree comes to bloom. Dear Autumn, hurry back.
While I got out twice for Autumn shooting last year, it hardly felt like enough. I have a few pieces from here and there from last year's haul that I will pick through as the season nears.
A beautiful water fall with a 317 foot drop.. the top of the falls is dangerous, the rock surface polished and the water is strong and fast flowing.. people have unfortunately fallen to their deaths after entering or slipping into the water above the fall.. there is a simple barrier to keep people away from the water, plus warning signs about the danger.. a lovely waterfall that has to be treated with respect.
I would also like to point out that the hike up here was busy, people say Cat Bells gets busy, no way does it compare.. there was a constant flow of people on the wide path.. the final ascent up the crude narrow steps to the top was a two line queue, one for up the other coming down.. all the time water was dripping on you.. I was quite wet once at the top but the sun soon dried me out.. I have to add that this was a busy weekend, I would avoid weekends here in the future :-)
The first morning of my 2010 fall season, which looks to be a good one, I hope.

The second in a series of impressionistic visions of summer foliage transforming into autumn brilliance. Based on an original iPhone photo and edited with iColorama on an iPad pro.
Fall foliage and water stream reflections of forest scenery from the Orange Grove area of Patapsco Valley State Park near Baltimore, Maryland (USA). Also part of a wider network of trails called the Avalon Super Loop, where the name alone drew me to this place and spoke to my inner child fascinated with myth, legends and fantasy.
