Biennial Faculty Exhibition will be on view at the Art Gallery at the Cultural Arts Building from January 12 through February 17, 2012. The exhibition features current work by University of North Carolina Wilmington studio art faculty: Shannon Bourne, Ann Conner, Donald Furst, Ned Irvine, Courtney Johnson, Eric Lawing, Vicky Smith, Andi Steele, Pam Toll, and Aaron Wilcox. The exhibition will be accompanied by a full color catalog. An opening reception will be held Thursday, January 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

As part of Manchester Science Festival. The ‘Science Extravaganza’ brings together experts from across the faculty, creating family friendly workshops for members of the public. This year, the John Dalton Building became a Forensics Lab for a giant game of ‘who done it’, complete with detective notebooks and crime scene tape…
We were also proud to to host Combination Dance Co. working in collaboration with scientists from MMU, UCL and the Motor Neuron Disease Association. Dancers and martial arts performers staged an interactive dance exploring how we currently understand a motor neurone works, how MND affects the body and the effects MND has on those living with the disease.

Many compare the Faculty Club’s architecture to that of a monastery. Emeritus law professor Jack Coons calls it “a sort of Vatican nesting in the Rome that is this campus,” alluding to its institutional independence from the University. The Club even has its own choir, the Monks’ Chorus, which is composed--oddly enough--of faculty clad as Franciscan monks.

Atul Prakash, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, works on code from project giving Github users an infrastructure to report vulnerabilities in the Bob and Betty Beyster Building on June 19, 2019.
The project was a collaboration with Prakash, Brandon Carlson and Darko Marinov at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kevin Leach at the University of Michigan, and Mei Nagappan at the University of Waterloo.
