The university is already doing this, in a big way. Small patches of lawn, like this one, are small and few.
It was only a matter of time before this happened! It's only about two weeks ago that this new sculpture by Antony Gormley was officially unveiled at the University's Sidgwick Site.
If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

On Thursday, November 21, UTHealth recognized its exemplary educators, practitioners, and researchers appointed to endowed faculty positions and honored the benefactors who generously established the awards from 2017, 2018, and 2019.
“Perhaps the greatest faculty our minds possess is the ability to cope with pain. Classic thinking teaches us of the four doors of the mind, which everyone moves through according to their need.
First is the door of sleep. Sleep offers us a retreat from the world and all its pain. Sleep marks passing time, giving us distance from the things that have hurt us. When a person is wounded they will often fall unconscious. Similarly, someone who hears traumatic news will often swoon or faint. This is the mind's way of protecting itself from pain by stepping through the first door.
Second is the door of forgetting. Some wounds are too deep to heal, or too deep to heal quickly. In addition, many memories are simply painful, and there is no healing to be done. The saying 'time heals all wounds' is false. Time heals most wounds. The rest are hidden behind this door.
Third is the door of madness. There are times when the mind is dealt such a blow it hides itself in insanity. While this may not seem beneficial, it is. There are times when reality is nothing but pain, and to escape that pain the mind must leave reality behind.
Last is the door of death. The final resort. Nothing can hurt us after we are dead, or so we have been told.”

one of the solid "bookends" that allow this glass house to be read as a brick building - following the discussion here. the bookends grow from the largely brick plinth - even if there is very little brickwork in the upper floors, the composition is still very considered and complete.

Ready to roll
The five student journalists and two faculty members are ready for a day in the field.

In June, five student journalists from Stony Brook University packed their hiking boots and hydration packs and joined a NASA-funded science team for 10 days on the lava fields of Kilauea, an active Hawaiian volcano. Kilauea’s lava fields are an ideal place to test equipment designed for use on Earth’s moon or Mars, because volcanic activity shaped so much of those terrains. The trip was part of an interdisciplinary program called RIS4E – short for Remote, In Situ, and Synchrotron Studies for Science and Exploration – which is designed to prepare for future exploration of the moon, near-Earth asteroids and the moons of Mars.

Osnova projektnog zadatka je razvojanje arhitektonske forme i fasadnog omotača koji će omogućiti integrativno korišćenje različitih oblika energije.Studenti se upoznaju sa elementima planiranja i projektovanja objekata specifične namene korišćenjem osnovnih načela energetske efikasnosti. Osnov istraživanja je analiza različitih odnosa i materijalizacije objekta u potrazi za prikazivanjem savremenih shvatanja u arhitekturi novog milenijuma, kao i sagledavanje uticaja izuzetno dinamičnog tehnološkog razvoja. Projektovanje ovakvih struktura i ovakvih koncepata u budućnosti ima za cilj sistematski pristup novoj generaciji arhitektonskih objekata koji su definisani uticajima tehnologije. Radom na projektu Univerzitetskog studentskog centra studenti istražuju osnovne elemenata funkcije i odnosa arhitekture u kontekstu energetske efikasnosti i savremene tehnologije.
