"The Plan was that everybody in the factory would work according to his ability, but would be paid according to his need."
Ayn Rand, "Atlas Shrugged"
I posted a picture of this sign a few years ago, glad to see it's still there although I'm not sure if the nightclub it's associated with is still operating.
This enormous plume of smoke was coming from a fire at a tyre recycling factory in Spain. The plume came up to over 30,000ft before levelling off at the tropopause. We could see it from well over 200nm away. I checked the local press for the area when I got home that evening and fortunately nobody was injured.

Templeton On The Green, also known as Templeton Business Centre, is a distinctive building near the People's Palace, in Glasgow, Scotland.
Templeton On The Green
The building was designed and built as a carpet factory for James Templeton and Son.
After repeated design proposals had been rejected by Glasgow Corporation, James Templeton hired the famous architect William Leiper to produce a design that would be so grand it could not possibly be rejected, so William Leiper modelled the building on the Doge's Palace in Venice.
It was said that the wealthy citizens living in nearby Monteith Row did not wish to overlook a factory and it was decided the building should be of appropriate design for such a prominent location in the city.
Clackline is a small settlement in the hills 80km east of Perth.
In 1898 two gold prospectors discovered a huge deposit of fine quality clay in the area and established the Clackline Firebrick Company.
The factory's products were used by many government departments, gold mines and railways for use in furnaces, some even being exported.
The factory had an on and off history until it finally closed in the late 1980s. It is now on the WA Heritage List.
The brick factory work is seasonal and the employment is contractual, utterly insecure and wage is piece-rated. Though man & woman workers comprise about one-half of the total workforce in every factory, they hail from the families that survive by working as labourer in every conceivable sense; they are from lower caste and class.
