It’s just an old country store in a small town that was bypassed by a highway. Brighton, Missouri, is now a quiet, mostly empty town with no real need anymore for a small general store. There’s a Walmart just a few miles away where you can buy “the world".
The Black and White Warbler behaves much like a Nutthatch in that they are often climbing on branches and trees upside down or climbing downward, where other warblers tend to perch upright.
This photo was taken in Thangshyap, half-hour downstream from Langtang Village. It was autumn at 3,2oom above sea level.
South-facing means the slope is located on the right bank to the north of Langtang river.
Some photography expert told me that a few years ago - always turn round and look behind you - you may get a totally new perspective. Well - never more true here. We were facing east and mesmerised by the amazing sunrise in front of us and getting off a few shots. I turned round 180 degrees to face west and luckily witnessed this incerdible sky reflecting the sunrisee

Autumn transforms the landscape in the Swiss Alps in a golden sea. High above Zermatt in Switzerland the iconic Matterhorn is surrounded by beautifully colored nature.
We are nearly finished with our visit to the Carr Villa Memorial Park. Just three photographs today around the theme of light, and then another couple of final sunset shots tomorrow to round it off. This one was taken just after the rainbow shots I posted yesterday. The angle of the sun was very acute (explaining the cause of the rainbows), and it produced a very vibrant illumination of this otherwise dark corner of the cemetery.
Birds are well equipped to survive the coldest of temperatures. They store fat during the short days of winter to keep themselves warm during the long nights. During those freezing nights, they fluff their feathers to trap heat and slow their metabolism to conserve energy. They also look for good places to roost, whether it’s a birdhouse, natural tree cavity, grass thicket, evergreen or shrub.
Facing the sunlight coming towards us , through the golden leaves (at the Château wonderland), in Autumn, feels like we are showered with thousands of blessings and a ….pink optimism!!! Our hearts become uplifted, and we feel like all of our dreams might come true!!!!!….

I don't understand why people do not understand the urgency and gravity of us facing extinction.
Extinction.
Sunflowers at sunset. They will track the sun throughout the day until they mature, when they will orientate permanently towards the east. By doing this they will get the warmth and light from the sunrise. This will attract pollinators such as bees

Blue Ringtail Damselfly (Austrolestes annulosus)
When I was looking through the archives for yesterday I noticed that there was another creature facing the Damselfly in this image. I have no clue what the other creature is.
Coming towards the end of my 'pink' sunset shoot at Findhorn Bay the other evening, I turned to look down the Bay towards Kinloss and Forres. The contrast in colour between the 2 directions was extreme with only a few upper clouds hinting at the hues towards the north in an otherwise blue vista. The slightly thicker haar in this direction aded to the scene's tranquillity and I just about got away with the 5 second exposure to flatten the slightly rippled water.
I set up this flowerpot at the east end of the pool recently. The newly added metal sculpture will provide a landing place for the dragonflies when they hatch in the spring.
Even turned away from the lens, this sunflower commands the frame — its ragged golden petals catching the sun against a sky torn between blue and drifting cloud. There's something quietly defiant about a flower that doesn't need to face you to be beautiful. 🌻

The storm raged throughout the night, with torrential rain and cyclonic winds. When morning came, the rain continued, but the wind calmed down a bit.
Sliding past granite peaks rising thousands of feet from the water’s edge is a fantastic experience and under a severe storm it turned into an epic one.
