We deployed our Live Facial Recognition (LFR) technology for the first time this week.
The two vans were in Sale town centre on Tuesday where officers were on hand to talk to and engage with members of the public.
No arrests were made and the vans will return to Sale on Thursday for a further deployment.
Inspector Jon Middleton, who oversaw the Sale operation, said: “We deploy the LFR vans in areas where there is a policing reason – for example shoplifting or neighbourhood crime.
“It is important we are out and about speaking to people and engaging with the public, and that is exactly what we have been doing in Sale.
“People have generally been happy to see us and speak to us, and supportive of the way the technology is being used.
“We will gradually build up the number and frequency of the deployments, and in the coming weeks will be in Bolton, Wigan and Manchester city centre.”
We are using LFR technology to ensure the continued safety of our communities in Greater Manchester.
The Home Office has supplied GMP with two LFR vans for use in areas where an operational need has been identified – not exclusively but areas with crime issues and large footfall, as well as music and sporting events.
The cameras will focus on a specific area or crowd and detect faces compared to a pre-prepared watchlist with an alert issued immediately if there is a match.
We will list future deployments on our website.
You should call 101, the national non-emergency number, to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response.
Always call 999 in an emergency, such as when a crime is in progress, violence is being used or threatened or where there is danger to life.
You can also call anonymously with information about crime to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity who will not want your name, just your information. Your call will not be traced or recorded and you do not have to go to court or give a statement.

As I have been previously tagged thrice, but only did 10 things for all three tags, and I am incredibly bored, so I decided to do more things. And add notes all over this picture.
1. I have my Pre Calculus and Physics finals tomorrow. I’m exited only for the physics. Math can go die in a pit. I don’t care if it is needed for science. I dislike it with a fiery passion of a thousand suns.
2. My mother incessantly questions me about boys. It’s really quite hilarious. I think she is trying to set me up.
3. Today she told me that if I ever sit with a boy on the couch she’s going to get the ruler out. I laughed and she said she wouldn’t. She’d get the yardstick.
4. I haven’t taken a good picture of my short hair yet. Hopefully I can relatively soon. (In this picture I do have short hair, but it was in a bun, so I’m not counting it.)
5. I need a guy to model for me for a picture idea. A sci-fi idea. That would require amazing editing skills that I do not have.
6. I should be studying right now, or reading Huck Finn, or editing my novel, or coming up with the cover art for my novel. But no, I’m doing this instead.
7. I go on Facebook lots. But I stay offline. Don’t feel like talking to anyone as of late. It all feels fake when it’s just three word sentences rotating back and forth.
8. My camera auto focuses for crap. I must master its unpredictability.
9. My truck no longer has a hole in its radiator. I want my license so bad. I just need to go. Alone. And I can’t do that on a bike or on foot in this crazy cold weather. (It’s only in the 40 degree area, but that is quite cold for my area. I’m trying to acclimate myself. Yesterday I wore three shirts and a sweatshirt and was still a bit cold when I went outside. But it was in the 30’s yesterday.)
10. Sometime I should make a Rube Goldberg Machine. I already have the idea as to how to start it out. It involves my truck and some ping pong balls.

The Carnival of Cunit is the oldest of the region of the Baix Penedès as we understand it at the moment since it is being celebrated of uninterrupted way from 1988; they are practically 2 weeks of different playful acts and celebration that has like central event great the cavalcade of carnival.
The cavalcade is celebrated the Saturday of carnival and is headed by Her Majesty Carnestoltes, “king of insolents” and the queen of carnival and her ladies (chosen in an act celebrated in the middle of August of the previous year); behind them it follows to him more than 60 groups of krewes and floats of all Penedès and part of Tarragona with a participation in 2006 of more than 4,500 different people disguised of thematic. The cavalcade leaves the railway station and finalizes in the square of Catalonia (square of the Casal). The route of cavalcade has a length of 3.5 kilometers where they are possible to be reunited up to 30,000 watching people (as much disguised as not). At the end of the cavalcade most of groups they go to the Platja de Calafell to make another cavalcade there.
The midnight after cavalcade is celebrated the great dance of carnival where they are distributed the prizes to the best groups as well as to the more original individual disguises, balconies and showcases of stores better adorned.

CASTELLANO

Chimpanzees use a variety of facial expressions, postures and sounds to communicate with each other. Chimps have expressive faces which are important in close-up communications. When in a frightening situation, a chimp will display a "full closed grin" which evokes an instant fear response in others. Other facial expression include the "lip flip," "pout," "sneer," and "compressed-lips face".
To show submission, a chimp will crunch, bob and extend a hand. To show aggression, a chimp will make itself appear larger by swaggering bipedally, hunching over and waving the arms. In certain contexts, such as traveling, finding large food sources, displaying and encounter another community, chimps will beat their hands and feet against the trunks of large tree, an act known as "drumming".

Our photo club leader Jacky has this idea of swimsuit model shooting. I am a learner and always willing to try on the new subject. But not until I try this, I wouldn't know how hard it is.
This is a typical summer shooting idea. The main issue is that the summer sunlight is very harsh. We tried to struggle with the extremely harsh and bright sunlight by many ways. We used reflector and back lighting. At least for me, the result is not promising. The model was squinting and we can understand the hardship around all these.
There is absolutely no shade in the Iona Beach area, the location for our shoot.
No matter what angle and viewpoint you take, there is still hard shadow on the model and I believe if we use fill flash, we may make the squinting even worse.
And I also made a big mistake. That is my bad habit with portrait shots. I always focus and pay attention to the facial expressions. I think most people will check on the body and pose (finding a better and flattering angle to show the figure and curves in the body) before they click the shutter for a swimsuit model shot. I totally missed on this.
Anyway I will admit I was not the type for swimsuit shooting. I also have too much preference on black & white tones over natural skin tones. :o(
Thank you for the kind cooperation of Ashley under the harsh light and heat during the entire session.
