This is Beauty and Body Image addiction, also portrayed by Mariam. (but she is not addicted to neither).
It can't really be seen, but she put on about two-inches of make-up. Make-up is not bad in itself, but it like a basic block of this addiction - that you're dissatisfied with yourself and you have to eliminate your flaws and imperfections. It leads to non-health-related plastic surgery, can lead to anorexia/bulimia, excessive dieting or working out at the gym for over 5 hours.
* Most fashion models are thinner than 98% of American women.
* Approximately 7 million girls and women struggle with eating disorders. That's 1 in every 20.
* 80% of women are dissatisfied with their appearance.
* The diet industry is a 40 billion dollar industry. This figure is amazing considering 95% of all dieters will regain their lost weight within 1-5 years.
* 42% of elementary school students between the 1st and 3rd grades want to be thinner.
* 51% of 9 and 10 year old girls feel better about themselves if they are on a diet.
