I snuck around the corner and snapped a shot of my daughter's expression when I told her I needed the phone.

Now...this IS very silly.

We were running out of ideas for real looking facial expressions.

So what better than to goof around with our great grandmother's glasses.

Two men play Shogi, the Japanese strategy board game also known as Japanese chess or the Generals' Game, on Minato Park, Nagasaki.

In Shogi (from shou-general and gi-board game) there are twenty wedge-shaped pieces of slightly different sizes for each player, placed on a 9x9 board (usually rectangular). Except for the kings that have different markings and colors, opposing pieces are identical and what belongs to whom is indicated by the way the pieces are placed on the board (facing forward toward the opponent's side). All pieces except the king and the gold general have a reverse side, which is revealed when a piece is promoted (the promotion zone is at the furthest one-third of the board). The goal of the two players (Sente-person with the first move and Gote-person with the second move) is to checkmate the opponent’s king (ōshō-king general). Interestingly, a game can end if a player performs an illegal move or if the same game position occurs four times with the same player to move (Sennichite).

There is a very intimate connection between hypnotic phenomena and photography.

Ok, I had a super busy day and a late night with my toddler, so I wasn't able to get to my 365 project until AFTER midnight, but I figured, as a busy mom I can cut myself a little slack once in a while!

Anyway, this is my tribute to the late Marcel Marceau. I must give thanks to Red Mountain Dewd whose comment inspired me to do this (see 9/365 - Smirk).

"Sein Blick ist vom Vorübergehn der Stäbe

so müd geworden, dass er nichts mehr hält.

Ihm ist, als ob es tausend Stäbe gäbe

und hinter tausend Stäben keine Welt.

Der weiche Gang geschmeidig starker Schritte,

der sich im allerkleinsten Kreise dreht,

ist wie ein Tanz von Kraft um eine Mitte,

in der betäubt ein großer Wille steht.

Taking a break from Landscapes for just a moment, we came across the Berber Apes in the Middle Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Some Apes are content to let you feed them. Some run around like mad. I split of from the group to find one that wouldn't be so uncomfortable around just one person. This little guy came so close and grabbed my camera by the lens hood. It was actually a challenge to get him back far enough to shoot him. Normally the problem is getting them to come to you. Regardless, this guys face had so much personality.
