我明白我成為攝影家的意外造就了我的生命。
I know that the accident of my being a photographer has made my life possible.

A mother and child react at a political town hall rally held in Half Moon Bay, California. The rally was titled "Voices of Dissent" and, led by Democratic congresswoman Jackie Speier, urged attendees to resist the fascism (radical authoritarian nationalism) that many now see existing in the newly-elected federal government administration.
An undated photo by Morrows Studio, Newport, Perry County, Pa., shows schoolchildren posing in front of a blackboard.
The expressions on the kids' faces range from angelic sweetness to stoic forbearance to utter impatience. My favorite is the girl sitting third from left in the front row (see below for a close-up view of her and some of the other children). Her dramatically amusing appearance--with puffed-out cheeks, bulging eyes, and a hand over her stomach--either indicates that she's going to be sick or that she's ready for the photo session to be over.

Another smoking shot taken right before this yin This was the first time I got to catch up with Phil since he moved over to Amsterdam. I love Phil, he gives great hugs.
So much of how we communicate intent and meaning to others is through our facial expressions rather than our words. The art of good street photography is being able to quickly see and photograph unposed and expressive faces.....to capture the decisive moment before your subject realizes that the picture has been taken. Almost everything is based on luck, persistence and the ability to see and capture the moment. The success rate of these types of shots is typically very low......a lot can go wrong. Things like improper focus and background distractions not to mention the need to occasionally face people’s anger and their security issues. But that's what makes street photography so satisfying and fulfilling, because after so much frustration, when you get “the shot”, it's worth all the effort you put into it.
